It can take 1-2 weeks for swelling to resolve after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Hi @vernlank. I'm sorry you are not happy with your lips. Typically, swelling can take up to two weeks to resolve. Best of luck to you, Dr. Nima!
Its normal to have swelling after the injection of Restylane to the lips. I would give it 1-2 weeks for the swelling to diminish before you need to decide if other actions need to be taken. In the meantime, I would ice the area several times a day to help the swelling lessen.
Lips can and do swell. If you bruise, this swelling will last longer. Generally the lips settle in a couple of days unless there is bruising in which cases, the swelling will persist until the bruising resolves. If the unwanted effect persists through Monday, consider seeing your injector for their feedback. Consider posting a photo here as well.
Thank you for this question. Sound fillers and some patients will lead to longer episodes of swelling. On average, swelling is better in most aft 72 hours, but some patients may go longer. Icing is really helpful and so is Arnica. Massage does not always help.See my video below for more ideas.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)
Lipaugmentation is a procedure where filler is injected into the lips to increasevolume and enhance the borders of the lips. Just by poking the lips with theneedle causes swelling.Thereactive swelling goes down in the first 2 days. Then it takes 2 weeks for thefiller to absorb water and reach your final result. Bruising may delay theresult further. Before that point, it's too early to evaluate youroutcome and you end up chasing your tail by touching up prematurely. Patienceis virtue. Don't rush into adding more filler or dissolving with hyaluronidase.Make sure you follow-up with your doctor so they can track your progress to asafe and happy result. Safety comes first.
Hello Vernlank,The lips more than any other area receiving injections tends to swell the most. The swelling depends on how much filler was injected, what filler was injected, and your body's natural response. It can take up to two weeks for the swelling to completely resolve. If it is too bothersome there is a prescription steroid that can also help improve the swelling. I'd recommend you contact your injector. You mentioned your injector was board certified. I recommend patients receive injections from physicians from one of the core aesthetic fields (facial plastic surgery, plastic surgery, dermatology, oculoplastic surgery). Not sure if that is one that you went to, but we tend to have the most advanced training for these types of treatments. I hope this helps and good luck.
Lips always swell after injection and it has only been one day. apply the ice and keep taking the Arnica. stop the Ibuprofin but keep up the Tylenol. One word of caution--the doctor is board certified-in what? Be sure dermatology or plastic surgery
Hello Arasjane,Thank you for your question. Though there have been no studies to show that an active lifestyle or high metabolism has bearing on the duration of HA fillers, I personally have noticed that certain patients who lead a more active lifestyle tend to need "touch-ups" on their filler ...
Thank you for your question. It is difficult to give you advice without seeing a photo or examining you in-person. It is common to have swelling and lumps after filler injection, which can take up 2 weeks to resolve. However, developing new lumps after 2 weeks is very rare. I recommend h...
