Bumps on hands after Restylane injections.

Question

I had Restylane injections on my hands two weeks ago and at first they looked great but now I developed bumps on my hands that start small and seem to get bigger. Could this be from the injections and will they go away? Maybe I injured my hands working out? There are several bumps all over.

I recommend following up with your physician to determine whether these are filler bumps or a reaction to the filler, or something else.  In the future, I'd recommend a thicker, more cohesive gel for filling hands, such as Voluma.  This is less prone to forming lumps in hands.Good luck!

Thank you for your question. At this time all swelling should be resolved. If the bumps now, "seem to get bigger." , it may be a reaction to the filler used. Alternatively, it may be that the filler particles coalesced together forming these bumps. I have my patients massage their hands for the first 3-5 days after to maintain a more even distribution of the filler. I recommend returning to your physician for evaluation. He/She may decide to try using an enzyme to dissolve the filler and the bumps.

Hello,Any potential swelling would have resolved by this time.  Therefore, it may be possible that you are observing product/filler that has not blended well and is giving the appearance of bumps.  Returning to your injector for an assessment is recommended.

However, Restylane can feel a bit swollen and lumpy after injection, but this usually resolves within 1-2 weeks after injection. It is not common to be developing new lumps 2 weeks after injection. It is common to have swelling and lumps after filler injection, which can take up 2 weeks to resolve.  However, developing new lumps after 2 weeks is very rare. Restylane can feel a little swollen and lumpy immediately after injection, but this typically improves within 1-2 weeks of injection. It is very hard to say - filler can be lumpy but lumps usually dissipate on their own in about two weeks; however if it has been two weeks already I would be very surprised to see the filler becoming lumpy at this point. I would definitely recommend a follow up with your injector to assess the situation. In the worst case, hyaluronidase could be injected to dissolve the filler and get your hands back to their pre-injection condition. Typically we use Radiesse for the hands without any problems.

Thanks for your question. Sometimes after swelling has dissipated many dermal fillers can form lumps. I recommend you follow-up with your injector to make sure this is the case and have them try to massage the lumps and blend out the filler. I hope this helps!
