Hello, I have received several non-surgical nose job treatments (voluma, restylane) and really like the results. However, I am wondering if consistent exercise (yoga, strength training, running) might cause my nose fillers to metabolize faster. Any insight/advice would be appreciated!
Answer: Will it or won't it? Hello Arasjane,Thank you for your question. Though there have been no studies to show that an active lifestyle or high metabolism has bearing on the duration of HA fillers, I personally have noticed that certain patients who lead a more active lifestyle tend to need "touch-ups" on their filler on a slightly faster basis than their sedentary counterparts. With that being said, the areas I've seen the filler diminish more quickly are areas with more muscle movement. The nose is an area where there is not a lot movement and so it should last you approximately the indicated time. You could also consider Bellafill, which is a permanent filler. I have seen amazing results using this product to fill the nose. Hope this helps. All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Exercise will not cause these products to metabolize faster. Work out, don't worry about this. These is just no evidence that diet, exercise or other factors speed up the "metabolism" of these products. They will persist in their location for years. You will probably want to be topped off in about a year or so.

Answer: Exercise after Fillers Thank you for your question. I'm not aware of any scientific studies that show that regular exercise decreases the duration of fillers. That said, in my own practice, I have noticed that some of my more athletic patients require both fillers and Botox a little more frequently. I can't say definitively, but I suspect they metabolize products a little faster. Best of luck!
