Had a lower facelift done 18 months ago and the one side of my jaw is still a little "jowly." Should I see another PS for this?

Your concern about Liposuction causing nerve damage is certainly something to be aware of, but not necessarily to be worried about. Posting your before and after pictures would help tremendously to see what would be of benefit. Everything else we can say will be purely conjecture. If you don't trust your surgeon, then get a second opinion. Bring your before pictures so that any existing asymmetries can be evaluated. Liposuction could help if fat is there in the jowl. 

It is possible to do a quick one sided revision facelift to make it look symmetric. However, if the jowl is mostly fat then liposuction is a good option as well. One way to tell is by pulling the skin back towards your ear. If that makes the jowl go away then revision lift will work. RegardsDr. Janjua

Thank you for your question.  You should return to see your surgeon to discuss whether revision surgery could be performed.  Liposuction will ensure a smooth a L shape neck, without this the fat constantly pushing down on the neck can cause it not to last as long.  Unfortunately, all patients have different skin laxity and lifestyles therefore the amount of time a facelift last does depend on these factors.  If you trust your surgeon and have had good aftercare experience, then return, however you can always get a second opinion as well.  All The Best 

Sometimes edema swelling after surgery causes a persistence of an area that is fixed on the operating field. Touch ups or further surgery 1 year after a procedure is a common practice approaching 15 to 20 % in some practices. The more procedures I do, the more I realize the need in a very small % of patients for an additional procedure. This week I have instituted the utilization of a new type of dissolvable thread lift that can be done under local in less then 30 minutes. A little surgical jowl lift can take less then an hour under local as well. Vector 3 D imaging may help you visualize proposed changes. Good luck...

Unfortunately the practice of medicine is not an exact science and therefore even in the hands of experience surgeons, sometimes minor revision or touch ups are necessary. If you have overall happy with your current plastic surgeon, then I would put back the trust in him/her. I would encourage you to communicate with your surgeon if you trust them and had a good experience, if not seek a second opinion and bring before and after photos. 
It is possible to have some slight assymetries after surgery which can easily be taken care of through a variety of measures depending on the specific problem. Liposuction of some residual fullness is a reasonable option if the fullness is due to fat. In the end, you have an issue that can easily be managed, who takes care of the issue it is up to you....

The reality of face and necklifts (and all esthetic surgery) is that imperfections and asymmetries are common. The decision of whether or not to pursue a revision can be a pretty difficult one. No one can make any guarantees about how much improvement you will achieve, which can be frustrating.  My suggestion is to make sure to have an open, frank discussion with your surgeon about your concerns. Getting a second opinion is always a good idea if you are left with lingering doubts.
