I had a lower facelift and neck lift 4 weeks ago. Would going to the dentist after only 4 weeks be a problem?

I wondered if seeing the dentist for a cleaning and possible x-rays would create an issue due to the stretching of the jaw and holding the mouth open for a long period. I'd hate to do anything to compromise the results. Thank you for your help. :-)

Thank you for your question.  Unless it is an emergency I would advise waiting 6 weeks after surgery, however please do ask your surgeon as they may have a different protocol.  All The Best

Always discuss what you can and can't do after surgery with the surgeon who performed your procedure.  Every surgeon has their own way of performing a facelift as well as their own postoperative preferences.  These postop instructions are usually based on the details of your surgery and your surgeon's previous experiences.

If you have any pain or tendnerness with mouth opening or head turning, you should probably wait a few more weeks.  However if this does not bother you, you should be fine to undergo the exam.

If you are seeing your dentist for a routine cleaning, I would advise waiting at least 6-8 weeks from your face and neck lift.  If you have an urgent dental problem, then check with your surgeon for his/her recommendations and good luck.
