Hello doctors, I would like to have neck lift with a lower face lift sometime in the next 8 months or so. I used to get restylane in the nasolabial lines but I haven't had it in almost two years. Is it okay to get the filler in the smile lines if I intend to have a lower facelift in the near future? Will the filler affect my facelift results in a negative way? Thanks
Answer: OK to Have Fillers Prior to Lower Face Lift? Have Surgeon Do Fillers Before Lower Facelift Most patients who have facelifts these days have used fillers before. They shouldn't interfere with your results at all. Ideally, you would go to the same facial plastic surgeon for both the fillers and the facelift so that he or she knows what you've had done and how to adjust for that, if necessary, during the surgery. If that can't be managed, be sure to inform your surgeon about the fillers before your facelift. I hope this helps.

Answer: Fillers prior to a face lift surgery? Perhaps the best answer is to do both at the same time though before or after is also possible. One of the elements of aging is loss of volume in the cheeks, temples and sides of the chin. Fillers or fat transfer can be used to rejuvenate these areas. I typically perform fat transfer as part of my facelift procedure whether traditional or a mini scar technique (most common). The reason is that part of the aging process is loss of fat in the temples and cheek regions which varies from person to person. There is a limit of how much fat can be safely injected into one area. The amount of fat that remains over time is variable from patient to patient. For some patients, more fat or other fillers may need to be transferred in a subsequent surgery to maintain or supplement the desired results. The survival of fat transfer (lipoinjection) is highly technique sensitive so choose the plastic surgeon with the most experience in this technique. See the below links for added details.

Answer: Fillers It is fine to get fillers before a face and neck lift. These are complementary procedures and would not detract from each other.

Answer: Filler Before Facelift Thank you for your question. Yes, its fine to have filler in this area before a facelift. A facelift will normal lessen these lines, therefore I would suggest waiting after your facelift, as the amount you may need could be less. All The Best

Answer: Facelift and Filler Yes, it is perfectly ok to have filler placed in the nasolabial folds prior to a lower facelift. As a general statement, and depending on the surgical technique, the nasolabial folds usually do not change after a lift. Most surgeons will not alter their technique, nor how tight they pull (or not pull) the jawline tissue based on pre-existing filler in the folds. I typically advise patients to delay their filler until after the facelift surgery since it is quite possible that they would need less filler, or none at all. The reason is not because the folds will improve (they won't), but because the entire lower face is going to look much more youthful and attractive afterwards.Best,Doc L
