will i be cleared for bbl/lipo if my MCH level is 25.9 but all my other labs are in normal ranges?

You should ask this question of the board certified PS who ordered the lab work.  MCH is used primarily to help determine if someone has iron deficiency anemia. He will have to determine if all of your lab work meets the criteria for a healthy candidate for a BBL.

Hello and thank you for your question. In order to completely evaluate your CBC results, we need to see other numbers including Hb/Hct, WBC, Platelet count. If you only have a mild iron deficiency anemia, you can probably still go ahead with the procedure, but this is something that should be cleared by your plastic surgeon. I would seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a full evaluation and advice. Best,

MCH needs to be evaluated in light of other CBC diff. parameters to evaluate how significant your anemia is. In person evaluation with your primary care physician and surgeon is recommended before surgery. Good luck.

you will most likely be cleared for surgery, but every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon

Hi and welcome to our forum!MCH or mean corpuscular hemoglobin measures the average amount of hemoglobin found in the red blood cells. This is often caused by a lack of iron in your diet or may indicate anemia. If your hemoglobin and hematocrit are within normal values, it is most likely safe to proceed with surgery, but your surgeon has the final say. Best wishes...

You should consult your primary care physician and a board certified plastic surgeon. After being cleared by both, you should be good to proceed with your cosmetic procedure. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing.

Your lab tests should be interpreted by the person who ordered them. You should speak to your provider if they will clear you with those numbers or not. Personally I don’t order any blood tests and young healthy people prior to this procedure.To me you’re fine to have surgery as is but I am not your provider.Ordering blood tests before surgery seems to go hand-in-hand with patients traveling for cosmetic surgery procedures either to Dominican republic, Mexico or certain clinics in Miami.I say this only based on what I see posted on real self,I suggest having in person consultations, not traveling for elective surgeries and discussing concerns directly with your provider.make sure your provider is a board-certified plastic surgeon.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
