I am deciding whether I need just chin look and a buccal fat removal or if I need a genioplasty too. I am looking at the after pictures of people with a genioplasty and their chin is already in a position which seems like mine is already in. I’m not sure if I should just try lipo or do a genioplasty too.
Answer: Do you think a chin liposuction and buccal fat removal will get me a sharp jawline or is a genioplasty necessary? Chin liposuction and buccal fat removal are both procedures that can help to create a more defined jawline by removing excess fat. Chin liposuction specifically targets fat under the chin and in the neck area, while buccal fat removal reduces the size of the cheeks. A genioplasty, on the other hand, is a surgical procedure that changes the shape of the chin itself, either by moving the chin bone forward or by implanting a chin prosthesis. This procedure can create a more pronounced chin and potentially enhance jawline definition. Whether these procedures will give you the result you want depends on several factors, including your current facial structure, skin elasticity, and personal aesthetic goals. It's also important to consider potential risks and recovery times. A consultation with a plastic surgeon or a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon can give you a better idea of which procedure(s) might be most effective for you. They can conduct a physical examination, discuss your goals, and provide personalized advice.

Answer: Anterior neck lift Thank you for your enquiry. The volume under the chin which reduces the sharpness of the jawline is concentrated primarily deep to the platysma muscles under the skin. It is composed of some tissue, the anterior belly of the digastric muscles and the lower part of the submandibular glands. It is a hereditary characteristic and does not change much through life. The area above the platysma muscles tends to change more with aging. The anterior neck lift intervention can address this type of problem. It always makes the chin appear more prominent because it reduces the girth of the neck in the upper part. I do not think a genioplasty would be critical to success. For the buccal fat reduction I would advice against I suspect that you family does not have round face contours and it could make your features appear a little bit hollow in the coming years. The anterior neck lift or short scar neck lift involves a 3 cm scar under the chin.

Answer: Chin liposuction greater definition of the jawline can be achieved with submental and jawline liposuction. Buccal fat pad reduction will not improve your jawline. Some additional chin projection can be accomplished with a chin implant.

Answer: Buccal fat removal I would recommend a light buccal fat removal only, based on your photos. Of course, a thorough physical exam is necessary. Best of luck !

Answer: Submental plus or minus genioplasty Thank you for your question. The three procedures you mention target different areas. Submental liposuction is great at removing the extra fat under your chin and affecting the angle you see when you look from the side profile. A genioplasty can increase how far out your chin sticks. We look at the side profile and compare your chin position with the rest of your face. Your chin is already sitting past the base of where your nostrils attach to your face so I would not say that you need a genioplasty. A buccal fat pad excision will decrease the volume within your cheeks (above your jawline). this can sometimes help define the face overall depending on your goals. Chin liposuction can often be performed with a patient awake so I would generally say that you could start with this and then you always have the option to go for the other procedures at a future time if you are not finding the results you wanted
