I had a very great experience with Dr Osborne, had my sliding genioplasty with him in October and it went pretty smoothly, I even went scuba diving after 2 months and had no issue. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Osborn and his team are consummate professionals. After discovering and researching genioplasty for about a year, I was ready to begin interviewing surgeons. I’m a very careful person who knew going into the process I was going to have a host of questions for whomever I chose. Initially I considered two top genioplasty surgeons in NYC (10 mins from where I live) and another highly ranked in the Midwest. As I was trying to decide between these three, by pure random chance I came across a post on Reddit of someone raving about Dr. Osborn in Boston. I was intrigued because Boston was within driving distance and the more I read, the more interested I became. Truthfully, and similar to another user’s post, I consulted with Dr. Osborn to add just one more candidate to my due diligence, still leaning towards one of my first considerations. That changed quickly within a few mins of my consult. Dr. Osborn was very receptive to all questions I asked, answered them in a confident but not dismissive manner, and took seriously concerns about some medication allergies I have. I was completely sold during the consult and I proceeded to book a surgery date. I would like to add that although price was not a major factor for me, Dr. Osborn was significantly less expensive than the other surgeons I consulted. The surgery itself went off without a hitch and very detailed post op instructions were provided. The procedure was performed under conscious sedation, which admittedly I was a little nervous about, but ultimately was a non-issue as I did not feel or remember anything! Swelling over the first few weeks was a bit intense, but it expected as they do a good job to warn you in advance with a detailed post surgery packet. Despite the warning, I did pepper the office with a few concerned emails and I was answered promptly and respectfully, which I really appreciated. After 4 months, having been very satisfied with the results of my genioplasty, I decided to undergo a second procedure (neck lift) with Dr. Osborn and I’m equally as impressed now with the result of that surgery. I highly recommended Dr. Osborn and his team and can say both procedures were overall great experiences and I love my results!
I had a consult with a doctor in Montreal 5 years ago for something unrelated and he let me know that my chin was actually under projected. I didn't think about it again for a long time but as I got older I realized that my face indeed looked way more balanced when I pushed my jaw down and forward. After some google searches, I found out about the Genioplasty procedure and began looking for doctors that specialized in it. A few doctors came up such as Dr. Jamali and Dr. Antell and I was considering going with one of these doctors initially. I am the type to over-do my research and one day I luckily stumbled upon Dr. Osborn answering questions on real-self related to this procedure. I really loved how he gave detailed responses that I could verify with the wealth of research I had already done. His consult charge was reasonable compared to other doctors so I decided to meet with him and consider him. When the consultation was done, I knew not to look any further and that he was the right doctor for this operation. He has such an excellent bedside manner and you can tell after just one conversation that he practices medicine at the highest standard. I had so many obscure questions and he was able to give me detailed answers that not only made medical sense but put my mind at complete ease. He is also reasonably priced because he practices in a smaller city and keeps a lean but efficient medical team (all of which are also an absolute pleasure too). I told him what my expectations were in terms of change and he agreed completely with my view on what should happen in chin advancement. Leading up to the procedure I was a bit concerned because I found out he does the procedure under heavy twilight sedation and not general anesthesia. I was worried that I'd be awake and able to understand and feel what was going on and initially preferred to have it under general. Thank god I didn't! Not only did I not feel any pain under the heavy twilight sedation, I honestly felt like I was floating on a blissful cloud as they worked on me! And when it was all done, I didn't have to recover from general for the next day or two and was feeling back to myself the moment I got out of the chair. Another thing I loved is I was in a dental chair and didn't have to take all my clothes off and go into a cold medical room onto an operating table. It was warm and comfortable and I felt much more at ease being sedated while fully clothed. The procedure was so quick! Maybe 45 minutes had passed before I stood up again, quicker than some dental work I've had done. I thought the recovery was going to be brutal because the bone had been cut and moved but I honestly didn't feel much pain at all. There was definitely swelling for the first few days and my chin and lower front teeth felt very numb but recovery on the pain meds prescribed was a total breeze! As long as you stay on your pain meds and eat a liquid diet until you're ready to chew more, the pain is almost unnoticeable. I am 2 months post-surgery now and every day I keep feeling and looking better. My chin perfectly suits my face now and it looks totally balanced. It is definitely important to massage the area continuously as you heal to prevent tightness from forming and becoming a permanent issue. I massage every day but I find I'm having to do it less as time goes on. The doctor and team have continued to follow up with me as I heal and have always been there to answer any questions or address any concerns I had in the last 2 months. At the moment I still have some numbness in my lower teeth but it is improving and my chin doesn't feel numb at all anymore. A full return of sensation is the norm for most patients and that is what I am experiencing as the months go by. For a while, my lower mouth was rigid when I would speak and it didn't move in a fluid way, but 2 months on, you wouldn't even be able to tell I had surgery! Even some people that have known me for ages have not commented on the change even though it is a marked improvement, showing just how natural the result is. If you are on the fence about whom to choose, whether it’s a Genioplasty or another procedure, choose Dr. Osborn and his team at CMF Surgeons. They charge less than big-name/big-city doctors do and are just as good if not better! They also offer payment plans should you not have all the money upfront which was great for me because it meant not having to wait to get the procedure done. Thanks to everyone at CMF and if you have any questions to ask me about my experience feel free to message me!
Dr. Osborn and his whole team at CMF are amazing and it really is something that makes them stand out from other surgeons. They are great at communicating and following up, which sadly is highly unusual for doctors. I was able to get a few appointments so I could have all my questions answered, and they are very accessible after surgery too for any questions or concerns. I was extremely nervous for surgery (sliding genioplasty) for so many reasons: IV sedation, the fact that bone was getting cut, what I was going to look like, whether healing would be absolutely miserable. I saw so many people online who said healing was terrible, they were so swollen and uncomfortable and were on a liquid diet for two weeks, etc. If you are Dr. Osborn's patient, this will not be your experience. In fact, one of the things that made me feel a little more comfortable was that I was able to talk to some of his past patients (on Reddit) and everything they described gave me a ton of reassurance. It also helped to keep in mind how experienced Dr. Osborn is. Compared to some surgeons who may be performing a SG once a month, he is doing them (or jaw surgery) twice a week or more. The day of surgery I was so scared, but everyone in the office was so welcoming and understanding. I had no nausea waking up from sedation, and this is definitely due to the amount of care and attention to detail that Dr. Osborn puts into his work - not only is he skilled and experienced, which means shorter operating time, which means easier healing, but he took a lot of measures to prevent nausea. The pre-op packet they give you is also very detailed and my recovery was basically what was described in there exactly. I experienced some clicking, which went away after a couple weeks. Swelling peaked on day 3/4 right on schedule. I would encourage you to take some photos right after waking up (I did this, and Arianna helped me take a few more since I was still a little out of it) so that if swelling starts to freak you out and make you worry about what you'll look like, you have the pictures to look back on and remember what the final result will be. Looking back at them I can see I actually do have some residual swelling, but nothing that is noticeable to anyone else. I was out with friends and back to taking in-person work meetings at a week and a half post op. They tell you to work up to food as you feel comfortable; I was eating pasta by day 2 (very slowly). Meaning I was on liquids only the day of surgery. By the end of week 1, I was comfortably eating most things, and by week 2, I was pretty much back to eating whatever I wanted. Another thing people are often afraid of is numbness. I don't know what kind of magic Dr. Osborn does, but neither my chin nor my lip are numb. My front teeth are numb, but I was warned about that in advance so I knew what to expect. Pain-wise, the day of surgery I was pretty sore, but I was off prescription pain medication after day 1. The thing that I keep saying is that this recovery was ten times easier than recovering from getting my wisdom teeth taken out. In fact, I actually found the week quite relaxing as I took off work and spent my time feeling comfortable and on the couch just watching TV. I feel kind of silly for being so nervous. You won't go wrong with Dr. Osborn and his wonderful staff.
Having double jaw surgery has been truly life changing. I feel so incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to be working with Dr. Osborn and his team! I had a 10mm overbite, and minor joint degeneration in my left jaw joint. Dr. Osborn was very thorough in his explanations and planning, and he helped make the process feel comfortable. He also worked collaterally with my orthodontist to find the right treatment plan. What’s wild to me, is that my surgery was done as outpatient, and I was discharged from the hospital the same day. I feel like this really helped me find comfort sooner than if I was boarding in the hospital. Typically one would think jaw surgery is painful, but that was not my experience. I was able to manage minor pain with over the counter medicine. By day 5 I ate a burger, and by day 7 I felt comfortable enough to go out without worrying about major swelling or bruising. I also had genioplasty and rhinoplasty done in the same surgery. Despite having 3 surgeries done, it felt like an “easy” recovery, and I can’t help but attribute that to Dr. Osborn’s skills. I joke and call it “my new face”, but I honestly feel the most me than I ever have!
Dr. Osborn was recommended to me and I am forever grateful that I chose him to be my surgeon. He is the most attentive, loving, and compassionate surgeon within the field of FFS and listened to all of my wants and needs for surgery. He checked up on me both prior to surgery, immediately afterwards, and for months during recovery. His team all cheered me on while we worked towards the goal for surgery dates, and I feel like both him and his team are family. He also is extremely detail oriented and knows what he is talking about in regards to proportions. If you are looking for an angel, look no further. He completely eradicated my facial gender dysphoria and I am forever grateful to him and his team.
I can’t say enough great things about my experience with Dr. Osborn and his office staff. I decided to consult with Dr. Osborn after seeing his name on r/PlasticSurgery (Reddit). I was initially wary to go to a surgeon without an extensive “before and after” gallery, but Dr. Osborn’s consultation fee was reasonable ($50) and I was having trouble finding other surgeons that performed SGs. To be honest, I planned to use my conversation with Dr. Osborn to help me decide between the two other, more well-known surgeons I had consulted with (Dr. Derek Steinbacher and Dr. Majid Jamali). I didn’t actually think that I’d go with Dr. Osborn. I almost cancelled my initial appointment with him...of course, I’m so glad now that I didn’t!Dr. Osborn turned out to be a kind and intelligent person. I instantly felt comfortable with him. After we spoke, it became clear that he was also quite humble. He didn’t have much interest in social media or advertising; he just wanted to do his job well. To my surprise, he actually had plenty of “before and afters” available, which he sent me over email. He never posts the B&As on his website because he wants to respect patient privacy. Not only did Dr. Osborn have the results I wanted, great reviews, and the best personality of all the surgeons I consulted; his office was able to get me in very quickly. I scheduled my appointment a mere two weeks after my initial consult! This is a huge deal. Dr. Steinbacher and Dr. Jamali were available in 2-3 months. I also tried to consult with Dr. Barry Eppley, but he was available for a consultation in two months and an actual appointment would in ten (yes, TEN)! I feel a bit sad that such an amazing doctor has flown under the radar, but it certainly worked out well for me!The actual surgery went off without a hitch. I flew into Boston, checked in to a local Airbnb, and walked to the office the next morning. The surgery took about an hour, and the anesthesia was perfectly timed. I had requested a lip filler add-on, and I woke up as Dr. Osborn was pulling the last needle from my lips. I got up after less than ten minutes, then left with a nurseI slept a lot the first day but wasn’t in much pain at all. I flew back after a few days hanging out at the Airbnb. I was mostly bored and sleepy. The pain was a 3/10. I managed it easily with Ibuprofen and Advil. I felt nearly normal by the end of the first week.I’m about 3 1/2 weeks post-op as I’m writing this review, and my chin looks perfect. There’s a bit of residual swelling and numbness on the tip of my chin, but everything else feels fine. (The tip of my chin also feels normal unless I poke it. I don’t notice the numbness otherwise.) The surgery and recovery happened so fast that it almost feels like a dream! I can’t believe it was so easy. I’d recommend an SG to anyone!Dr. Osborn has very reasonable fees, especially considering that he’s a highly-skilled surgeon in a major city. Dr. Osborn is straightforward in his pricing. Everything is included in the initial price he gives you; you won’t be hit with additional fees for anesthesia, follow-up appointments, etc. Finally, his office staff is lovely! Everyone works hard and answers emails promptly. I felt like they also truly cared about me.
For the past four plus years, I’ve wanted this surgery more than words can describe! I had went to two other surgeons prior to meeting him for consultations on Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) and I didn’t feel 100% on them so I kept on with my search to finding the right surgeon for me. About a year ago, I was looking online for surgeons in my area who specialized in this surgery. I came across a few surgeons and booked several different consultations through realself. Including Dr. Timothy Osborn. A month later I had met him at his office and as soon as I met him, I knew he was the one who was going to change my life FOREVER! He had such positive energy, was extremely educated, and genuinely showed he cared to meet my needs! I left that consultation ready for him to operate on me! I didn’t even bother to go to the other consultations I had made. I even told my best friend about him who also was interested in getting the same surgery and she had made a consultation with him as well! A little over a month ago, I finally had my Facial Feminization Surgery with Dr. Timothy Osborn. After surgery, he was there for me through my entire recovery process! We texted back and forth almost everyday for two weeks making sure pain was managed, and that I wasn’t having any complications, etc. I truly felt he went above and beyond to make sure everything was going well which in my opinion, made my recovery that much easier and better having him there the entire time! The staff at cmfsurgeons was incredibly kind and kept in touch up till surgery and also after as well! A HUGE thank you to the staff at cmfsurgeons and an even BIGGER thank you to Dr. Timothy Osborn for changing my life FOREVER!
Dr. Osborn saved me from a lifetime of eating all my meals through a straw. In June of 2018, while on vacation in Burmuda, I fell down the stairs of Saint Peter's church in St. George and stuck the landing with my chin. (Yes, I was wearing sensible shoes and no, I had not been drinking.) The fall resulted in my breaking both condyles which meant that my jaw was no longer connected to the rest of my skull. The condyle on the left side was a straight break but it never lined back up and the right side was a compound fracture. As it rurned out, breaking both sides of a jaw is very rare and led to a 6 month search for a surgeon who could help me. One doctor told me to live with it. Another surgeon told me that it would take five years to procure a custom set of protheses because as it turns out, I'm allergic to the nickel in the material used in the made-to-order pieces. At that point, Dr. Osborn came to my rescue. He uses the standard prosthetics normally used for TMJ, and modifies them during surgery to fit them to the patient. Most surgeons make a model of the skull and have the parts specially made. So Dr. Osborn's method is highly unusual. He was able to operate right away and after 6 1/2 hours of surgery, my jaw was re-attached! From this layman's point of view, Dr. Osborn performed a miracle. My face is back to normal and I'm able to eat solid food with a fork and knife. His ability to think and perform outside of the box is amazing. I can't recommend Dr. Osborn strongly enough. Joan D. I've been unhappy with my lower face for a long time now and made a consultation with Dr. Osborn while not entirely sure which procedure I wanted. I was somewhat interested in buccal fat removal, but wasn't sure that my buccal fat was necessarily the issue. Dr. Osborn recommended a genioplasty and explained that a stronger chin would improve add structure to the lower face and help tighten up some of the areas I felt were undefined and/or beginning to sag. He said we could add buccal fat removal if I wanted more overall contouring, so I opted to do both procedures. I'm very happy with my results and am glad he suggested a genioplasty! I agree with his assessment that buccal fat removal alone would not have given me the results I was looking for. Since surgery, I've also been back for Botox and filler. My mother wanted to get Botox too, and I talked her into getting a syringe of filler. Before meeting him, she was worried she would end up looking like a Real Housewife, but now, she is so in love with her results that she has already told me she'll be going back. Her lines are softened but the overall effect is so natural that no one would ever notice she had anything done. It's that subtle glow/"good night's sleep" look everyone wants. In addition to his technical expertise, Dr. Osborn is a kind, caring doctor who always ensures his patient's comfort. (He also has an adorable angel of a dog that you'll get to meet if you're lucky!) His office staff is phenomenal as well and have made the whole journey, from booking a consultation, to ensuring my satisfaction and health during the healing process, as comfortable, convenient, and pleasant as possible.

Vitamin E is great for scars. It can help to lighten their appearance. SPF is super important, especially in the weeks following the procedure to prevent pigmentation. It is important during the surgery that enough sutures are placed to secure the incision and prevent pulling/stretching of the skin, which would make the scar larger. Unfortunately there is no way to complete a lip lift without leaving a visible scar, so you do have to weigh the pros and cons.
You do need to be careful when using Botox around the mouth because it can effect your ability to smile /make expressions if it is misplaced. I would recommend skin tightening treatments, such as RF (radiofrequency) microneedling. This can be used on your face and neck to improve overall skin laxity and reduce the small pouches around your mouth. Filler can be used to treat volume loss but can also make features appear overfilled, so there is a fine line between just enough and too much.
