Will I need to gain weight for a bbl? I would like to lipo my stomach, back and love handles to create that small waist. Also, add fat to my buttocks to enhance the size and overall shape. Lastly, add fat to my hips to create curves since I lack to have any due to having hip dips. I hope the pictures help to visually see my body shape. I do regularly workout but it has not helped to shape my body how I would like. For the BBL procedure would I have to add weight and stop working out?
Answer: The right surgeon for you? Ideal candidates are at a stable weight, in good health , and have excess fat in some parts of the body and too little in other regions. Gaining weight before the procedure is to no advantage and when you lose weight again the fat cells will shrink just like the donor site fat cells. Typically, the transferred fat results in a significant increase in volume of the body site being treated.

Answer: Replace hip dips and square butt Gaining weight is often counterproductive. If you gain weight that is fat, some of the fat will likely be associated with the buttocks. I think it is better to maintain your stable weight. An in office consultation would be required to determine the amount of fat available for harvesting to the buttocks. The smallest amount I have ever transferred has been about 500 cc per buttock or about 1000 total cc. My philosophy is to place as much fat as possible without causing fat necrosis or undue pressure. I always anticipate that only 50% will survive, but frequently more does. Find a board certified plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials (experience, education, training, certification) who performs hundreds of BBLs each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results with favorable patient reviews.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BBL candidate Dear Linda99061,liposuction with a fat transfer is a great option to give you more curves and hourglass shape. However, without an examination it is hard to tell whether you have enough fat to get the desired look. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
