Which among liposuction and gynecomastia surgery would be best in my case for chest fat? (photos)

I am a healthy 27 year old. I want to get rid of chest fat and want to know if liposuction works or should I go for gynecomastia surgery?

Thank you for your question.  If it is strictly fat then liposuction would be the way to go.  When you go in for your consultation your Surgeon will examine you and decide if you have some breast tissue then it would be a gynecomastia.  I would suggest speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options.

Thank you for your photos.  I would certainly do liposuction with a Vaser to help tighten the skin.  After this on the operating room table I would assess whether or not glandular tissue needs to be removed.  Based on the images I suspect there is excess glandular tissue that would need to be removed as well.

Gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breast. it can be caused by excess gland, fat or both. Surgeons who correct gynecomastia have to be able to use both liposuction as well the direct excision of the glandular tissue. It is very difficult to accurately predict the contributions of the different tissues. Good luck in getting your gynecomastia corrected.

I do a lot of gynecomastia surgery. 80-100% of the excess volume is fat which can be more easily and smoothly removed with liposuction. I always do liposuction first and then feel to see if there is remaining gland tissue. In most cases there is a little remaining firm gland tissue usually right under the aerola. So I remove that tissue thru the small incision along the lower edge of the aerola.  If no remaining tissue, then I do not have to do more than the liposuction. I really never know for sure until I have finished the liposuction portion of the case. Even doing both procedures I  can be done in about an hour. Discuss in person with a plastic surgeon that does plenty of these cases and you like their before and after photos. Good luck.

You have both enlarged gland and excess fat. Only liposuction will not help correct your problem.  You will need Gland excision + liposuction that is Gynaecomastia Surgery.

Proper gynecomastia surgery is typically a combination procedure done with Liposuction to remove subcutaneous fat and direct excision of glandular tissue to remove that tissue. The glandular tissue will not be sufficiently removed with Liposuction so Liposuction alone tends to leave patients under treated.  The approach and outcome is highly operator dependent. Look for plastic surgeons who have impressive collections before and after pictures (at least 50 sets of before and after pictures should be demonstrated during a consultation ) and a stellar reputation.

Those who done these procedures enough will tell you that both open excision and liposuction is the way to go for the great majority of them having this procedure.

An assessment requires an examination to determine how much glandular tissue someone has versus subcutaneous fat but in almost all cases of young men were not obese glandular tissue is a significant component.

You can get a better idea of what your soft tissues look like by putting your skin and pectoralis muscle under tension by stretching one arm at a time behind your head while looking in the mirror.  While doing this stretch you will see the outline of your fat and glandular tissue accurately.

Thank you for your question and photos. Gynecomastia treatment consists of liposuction of the fatty component of the chest and direct excision of the gland. The gland is denser than fat and is not able to suck through the liposuction cannula. Both components must be addressed to completely correct the gynecomastia.
