How can I get a neck lift without the scar in the front of the ear? (Photo)

I have very short hair, I can not let it grow and do not want a visible scar. I have heard that this is possible with selective doctors and its named "scar-less neck lift.

The incision in front of the ear in your case should be minimal because the excesses of skin in little in the lower face.   In any event  the incision can be camouflage if place inside the ear.

Based on this photo you look like someone who may not need scars in front and behind ear at this time. Anterior neck lift which is done through small incision underneath the chin may be sufficient to correct your current neck "deformity". The laser assisted weekend necklift uses a small incision behind each of the eyes, and one underneath the chin that is unnoticeable. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon because you seem to be an ideal candidate for laser assisted weekend necklift.

Hi lizyaffa,You may be referring to FaceTite®, which, through very tiny incisions (slightly larger than needle pokes), a device is used to melt fat and tighten neck and jawline skin and soft tissue, using heat created by radiofrequency.  This is appropriate in some patients, typically in their 40s and early 50s, who have good neck skin elasticity and minimal jowling.However, a lot of patients would benefit, rather, from a lower face and/or necklift.  If only a necklift, most of the incision can be hidden behind the ear.  If the lower face is to be included, then incision necessarily has to extend into the natural creases in the front of the ear, but these hide nicely if done meticulously.I suggest you go for an in-person evaluation with a doctor who performs FaceTite® and lower face/neck lifts to see if you're a candidate for one or the other.Best wishes,Dr. Jay

Hi there, no technique is truly scarless. However, a short scar technique, which leaves a small inconspicuous scar under the chin may be appropriate in your situation. This avoids the needs for a scar around the ear altogether. Good luck!

There are certain cases where the incision in front of the ear can be greatly shortened. However on your picture, you also have jowls so you would be doing yourself a disservice by not considering a preauricular incision. These incisions can be well hidden however if this is your preference, you might end up disappointed with your results.

In our practice, a neck lift involves placement of 3 small incisions: one underneath the chin and one behind each ear. These are simply access incisions to be able to remove fatty deposits above the platysma muscle, below the platysma muscle and perform a platysma plasty. A neck lift is usually performed on patient's less than 50 years of age who skin tone is acceptable.  If there is loose and inelastic skin in the  Face and neck, this must be addressed with a lower face and neck lift to tighten loose facial and inelastic neck skin.  This will involve careful placement of incisions behind and in front of the ear.  More information is needed such as your age,  and skin tone quality which is usually determined at the time of the examination and consultation.  For many examples of neck lifts, please see the link and the video below

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may
benefit from a neck lift.  If good technique is used,
this can be done with minimal scarring (behind the ear) and can result in a natural look, not
over-done look, with rejuvenation of your neck.  Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect
is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.
