William Townley, MD, FRCS(Plast)

After years of searching for the right surgeon, I finally came across Dr. William Townley—and I am so grateful I did. I had my first rhinoplasty with him in December 2023. From the very first consultation, Dr. Townley stood out for his professionalism, honesty, and clear communication. He explained the procedure in a simple and realistic way, carefully managing expectations without ever over-promising. My case was complex due to having broken my nose three times in the past. My main goal was to straighten my nose, which had been a major insecurity for years. The initial surgery went well, but about a month into recovery, I experienced unexpected swelling. Dr. Townley was completely transparent, acknowledging it was unusual at that stage of healing and that the exact cause was unclear. What stood out to me was how closely him and his team monitored the situation, checking in regularly for the rest of the year. At the one-year mark, my nose was definitely improved, but still appeared slightly deviated. Together, we decided on a revision rhinoplasty in January 2025—completely at no extra cost. That level of care and commitment to achieving the best result speaks volumes about Dr. Townley’s integrity and dedication to his patients. Now, seven months post-revision, I’m incredibly happy with my result. It looks very natural, and while the nasal tip leans ever so slightly to the left (which only a perfectionist like me would notice!), the transformation compared to my original nose is absolutely incredible. I genuinely believe no other surgeon could have achieved this level of improvement given how complex my case was. Dr. Townley is not only a skilled and experienced surgeon, but someone who truly cares about the outcome and the patient’s journey. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering rhinoplasty—especially those with challenging or revision cases.

Dr William Townley is a genius! My whole experiance with Mr Townley and his team has been fantastic. I came to Mr Townley with a botched nose from a prior Rhinoplasty. I waited 13 years to decide to fix the issue. I needed to make sure that the person I chose would not only be capable of fixing the problem but would also be reable to reassure me. I had many traumatic thoughts and feelings about going under the knife again. From the consultation to the current day (2 weeks post op), everything Mr Townley and he`s team have done has been perfect. Mr Townley informed me at the consultation that I had three main issues - a collapsed tip, deviated Septum and hole in my bridge. He said the case would be considered complex and was realistic with what he could achieve. He was extremely informative whilst also not being too pushy. He allowed me to make my own choice and decide if I wanted to go ahead. Claudia was very helpful with the booking, getting medication and providing the instructions before the day of the Op. On the day of the Op, I was very anxious about the anesthetic. All of the team at Weymouth street hospital were brilliant at calming my nerves. My nurse (Mia) helped me to prepare for the operation, she was very funny and attentive. I spoke to Andrew (the anesthetist) before the operation and explained my concerns. I like to understand everything before I do it. We had a long conversation about how anestetic works, which put my mind at ease. I also spoke to Mr Townley again before the op to confirm what the ultimate goal was. The nurses gave me numbing cream on both hands so I wouldn't feel the needle of the anesthetic. They walked with me to the theatre room and talked to me throughout the prep of the anesthetic by Andrew. I didnt feel anything and was unconscious straight away. Very different from my first op where I felt pain and had panic attack (almost) before going unconscious. Post op My recovery went very well, I was swollen but had very minimal bruises. I spoke to Mr Townley again after the surgery and he explained how the operation has gone. The next day I was contacted by Charlotte (Mr Townley`s nurse). She provided me (again) with clear instructions on aftercare for my nose. She checked in with me nearly every day after before my 7 day follow up appointment. At 7 days my sutures were removed. I was very anxious about this being painful, but Charlotte was extremely gentle and I didnt feel a thing. We spoke once more about the next 7 days care for my nose, I felt confident with what I needed to do next. At 14 days my cast was removed. To say I am happy is an understatement! I am in love with my new nose, so much so I wanted to cry! You can see from the pictures that Mr Townley has done an amazing job. He has made my nose so much prettier, keeping it natural and still perfectly shaped for my face. The after pictures are only 2 weeks post op so I have swelling still to subside, but I am already over the moon! I cant stop looking at myself. Mr Townley is worth every penny! I look forward to my 2 month follow up.

Had a chin implant, with excellent results. Chose to do it under local anesthesia, just my preference. Clinic appointments take around 2-4 weeks, shorter, if you are willing to come at short notice. I opted to go in for a chin implant and was explained the procedure, risk factors, and benefits. Procedure: The hospital and Mr Townley’s team get in touch with you, with advice on the admission and things to do prior. Such as showering and traveling. Saw Mr Townley pre-op and later wheeled into the theatre. The procedure itself took less than an hour. Was done under local injections and hardly felt a thing. The only thing I can recollect was the grating sensation on my jaw. It’s painless but does remain with you for a while. So local anaesthetia may not be everyone's cup of tea. Post-op: Nursing care was kind and helpful. Pain relief and paperwork were provided. Mr Townley met me before discharge and gave me an an advice sheet and creams to be used. Day one was the most painful, more so as I traveled back by train. The dressing was kept for 1-2 days before I changed it. The use of ice and facial support helped. All the post-op info was provided, along with a direct number to the specialist nurse. She usually got back very quickly, even out of hours. Which was more sort of for reassurance, as things went smoothly. As explained, the first week saw swelling and pain, with some bruising and having to take a liquid diet. Later on, things got better, the wound looked fine, and began to more semi-solid food. Should say by 7-10 days it all seemed to be going nicely, with the wound now looking healed. As per the instruction leaflet then started using the cream, as well as returned to work. Week 2-4 you start seeing the real you, as by now most of the swelling had subsided For the first time, I could see and feel the outline of my jaw. Overall, was very impressed and extremely happy with the care provided and the results.

I am roughly 2 months post op after undergoing ultrasonic rhinoplasty, and I couldn’t be happier with the results so far. Mr Townley truly is an incredible surgeon with a high level of expertise and the results have far exceeded my expectations both aesthetically and functionally.  ? The whole team have been excellent, Claudia was lovely to liaise with and was great at running me through the whole process. Charlotte was fabulous and was always available to answer any queries I had during the recovery. And Dr Baldock, an excellent asset to the team who put me at complete ease and talked me through the anaesthesia process. The whole experience was flawless, and I highly recommend Mr Townley and his team for anyone seeking the best surgical care.

Mr Townley is very talented, my consultation with him for a breast augmentation was very straightforward. He explained all the side effects and safety measures, and what to expect etc, it was all clear. You know he’s a great surgeon when they explain and discuss the realistic outcomes as our own anatomy will have limits, I like his honesty and transparency. In top of that his team, PAs were excellent and lovely! I’m happy with my results, recovery was easy, and would highly recommend him to everyone. I’m glad I went with him instead of other surgeons!

Had a fabulous experience with Mr Townley and his team, I would 100% recommend them for any treatments that you require. They are very professional from the very first meeting to the completion of the treatment and following on with the after-care. I took a long time to choose a consultant in the beginning going for a very long investigative process to make sure I found the right one. I chose three different surgeons and Mr. Townley was top of my list. After our first meeting I knew he was the one I wanted and I knew I could trust him and his team to complete the treatment I wanted. After that first meeting I tore up my list and didn’t see any other surgeons, that’s how sure he made me feel.

I underwent rhinoplasty surgery almost three weeks ago with Dr. Townley. I was a bit hesitant about cosmetic surgery and anaesthesia, but after meeting Dr. Townley and communicating with his team, I knew I had found the right surgeon. He is professional, attentive, and calm, and he made me feel safe throughout the entire process. While it’s still early in my recovery, and my nose is a bit swollen as expected, I am already very happy with the results—it looks incredibly natural, which was a key concern for me. Dr. Townley truly understood what I wanted to achieve and did an amazing job. His team was also fantastic—Charlotte was gentle, professional, and approachable, always making me feel at ease. Claudia was kind, easy to communicate with, and ensured all my questions were answered promptly. I couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience!

In January 2024 I had a revision necklift done by Dr. William Townley which included reduction of the submandibular glands and digastric muscles. The primary surgery had been done in late 2020 by a very expensive, supposedly top name surgeon. I learned the hard way about the importance of doing thorough research and understanding the baffling GMC register and medical qualification terms. My conclusion: if your UK surgeon isn't on the GMC 'specialist' register and hasn't spent many years working as a consultant in the NHS, he's not in the premier league for skill and experience. William Townley is right up there with the most highly qualified plastic surgeons in the world. I spent 2 years trying to work out why my original necklift (done at the same time as a deep plane face lift) had deteriorated so fast and searching for solutions. It was the surgeon's failure to address the overgrown submandibular glands and digastric muscles. The decision to have a revision was complicated by the fact the primary surgery had resulted in giving me a very severe deep surgical infection - cellulitis that lasted 7 weeks. To make matters worse, the original surgeon had refused to admit there had been an infection (claiming it was a 'suture reaction') and told me not to attempt to do any kind of post-op treatment to assist in healing - really bad advice that resulted in permanent discomfort due to fibrosis from extensive (untreated) scar tissue. This also made revision surgery more challenging with a high risk of being left with irregular contours. I consulted several top international surgeons. William was the only one who came up with a back-up plan for dealing with the risk the platysma tissue would be so full of holes and damaged (from the prior infection) that the revision would leave me with irregular contours. He ordered some ADM material to be available on the day of surgery so that it could be used to patch up the damaged tissue planes if necessary. This is not standard cosmetic surgery. It's reconstruction work and the ADM material has to be discarded if not used on the day. No other surgeon took the time and care to think of this and offer it to me as a back-up option. On the day, William managed to do the surgery without using it and got a fantastically smooth result and a achieved a surprisingly big lift on my neck. My whole jawline contour is much sharper and younger looking now. It has improved the whole look of my lower face. I also notice that the incision scars have healed much better this time round. I don't know if that's due to the meticulous after-care instructions on how to optimize incision healing or due to the superior surgical skills, or both. The prior infection did not have an impact on the incision lines, so it's nothing to do with that. The original surgeon told me not to try any kind of treatment on the incision scars, whereas I got letters and laminated cards with instructions for daily scar treatment from William along with a goodie bag of products to help when I left the hospital. I can hardly even find William's incision under my chin now, whereas the original incision line is quite obvious (it was too far forward to be reused by William). The fibrosis induced discomfort has also been alleviated by the re-draping of the tissue planes. I did a lot of treatments on my neck in the months prior to the revision surgery to soften the scar tissue and reduce the discomfort, but the surgery also helped. The whole experience has been amazing. William's support staff are lovely and have been great with the tips for after care too. I've also started having a bit of botox on my face for the first time in my life and can highly recommend Charlotte Ponsaing who works with William on skin care and non-surgical treatments. William has permission to share my BEFORE / AFTER photos with his patients in consultations and he posted the 2 months results on his Instagram. Updated on 20 Oct 2024: I have attached my Before /After photos. The 'afters' were taken 6 months post the revision necklift surgery. I was left with bulges under my chin from the primary surgery done by a different surgeon in 2020. The right side was the worst because the enlarged submandibular gland on my right side had not been reduced in the primary surgery. William also reduced the glands and the very lax digastric muscles. He also tightened up the platysma muscle and gave me a surprising big necklift even though I'd already had that done in 2020. I'm very pleased with the sharper, cleaner jawline and more lifted neck. I'm posting this update in October 2024 - 10 months after my revision surgery with William. The surgery result is holding up very well. No regrets about having this revision done.

I had a rhinoplasty last year in February, and I am very grateful for Dr. William. He is kind, patient, knowledgeable and incredibly detail oriented. Due to a broken nose the operation was more complex, but I was confident that Dr. William would fulfill my expectations. My result is very natural, as my nose looks straight and more refined. I couldn’t recommend Dr. William enough!

I had a septorhinoplasty just over two weeks ago with Dr Townley and the results so far have completely surpassed my expectations - it’s exactly the shape I had in mind, super natural and healing so quickly. The whole process and the recovery has all been really smooth to date and Claudia and Charlotte are so responsive and helpful. I did lots of research before I went ahead with this and couldn’t be happier that I did!
