I have diastasis recti, how can I get a flat stomach? Will liposuction be enough or do I need a Tummy Tuck?

Far more important than deciding if MM is for you is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let him explain why one technique may be better than another and if you need a tummy tuck. Many board certified plastic surgeons provide a free first time consult and you should take advantage of that!

Thanks for your question!  If you want a flat tummy, you need the tummy tuck.  Liposuction will reduce the volume, but you will still have a diastasis preventing you from having a completely flat abdomen.  Good luck!

Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. If you have a diastasis, then you are likely a better candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction.  This can be done through a low and short
incision, all completely below the bikini line. 
The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on
the exterior.   Your muscles can also be
plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. 
Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of
real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate
their results.  The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are
comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified
board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Once you have reached your desired goal weight I think you will most likely be a full tummy tuck candidate.  This will allow for repair of your diastasis, effectively cinching your waist smaller, while remove the greatest amount of skin and adipose tissue.  Be sure you have finished having your family and do not have further plans for pregnancies.  Best wishes.

In order to address your diastasis you will need a tummy tuck.  Liposuction will not correct this issue.  Lifting restrictions will come from your surgeon based on your progress during recovery.  Lifting more than 10-15 pounds is not recommended for approximately 6-8 weeks.

Thank you for your question.  The concerns you have listed, an abdominoplasty is the best option.  Liposuction will not fix your diastasis, it will only decrease the fat layer.  An abdominoplasty with liposuction will fix your diastasis as well as treat the skin laxity and fat excess.  At our office we allow our abdominoplasty patients resume lifting heavier then 10lbs after 6 weeks, but every Board Certified Plastic Surgeon has different protocols.  Schedule a consult to discuss your concerns and further discuss the recovery.   

Thank you for your question.  If you want to get rid of the diastasis and have a flatter abdomen, you would need a tummy tuck.  Liposuction only gets rid of fat but doesn't address excess loose skin and a diastasis recti.  In my practice, I tell my patients to avoid heavy lifting about 6-8 weeks after a tummy tuck surgery.  Be sure to consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon.  Good luck! 

By definition if you have diastasis recti the only solution for abdominal wall laxity will be an abdominoplasty. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

The treatment for rectus diastasis is a full tummy tuck, in which the muscle separation is repaired to restore a flat abdominal contour, and redundant abdominal skin is removed. Liposuction can also be done with a tummy tuck in order to treat areas of excess fat.  I recommend that patients avoid lifting anything heavier that 10 lbs for 6-8 weeks after their tummy tuck.
