40 year old, 1 child (no c-section), 150 lb, 5’6” Recently had breast lift, will be getting implants soon I’m considering tummy tuck or thermal lipo. PS said he was 50/50 could go either way but when considering cost, TT would be more predictable when considering skin tightening vs removal. He performs TT with drains. I am concerned about downtime/recovery, scaring, belly button placement and look. Am I a good candidate for Thermal lipo? Looking for contouring and slight skin tightening, not abs

Answer: "Thermal lipo" or radiofrequency is not a good option for body contouring. Traditional liposuction is best Radiofrequency uses heat in an effort to dissolve fat cells. Unfortunately, it can cause prolonged swelling and firmness of the tissues. Regular liposuction is a better option. You could just have liposuction alone. Your skin is not loose enough that a tummy tuck is mandatory. Often there is a degree of skin contraction even without heat. There are examples on my website. Yes, you have reason to be concerned about scarring from a tummy tuck. It is best to look at plenty of before and after photos of your surgeon's work. I have a saying that any patient should check out at least 10 examples of their surgeon's work. If you like what you see, then probably you will be satisfied.

Answer: Lipo and Slight Skin Tightening It looks like your abdominal skin has mild elasticity changes with mild cellulite. However, you do not have stretch marks or a pannus (skin hanging over your belt line) and liposuction may be adequate for your expectations. I would also recommend liposuction of your waist to help complete rejuvenation of your mid-section as a cosmetic unit. Thank you.
