How common is micro lipo for the lower face/lower cheek area? (Photo)

Question

I have a round face with lower face heaviness - a doctor recommended lower face / cheek micro lipo. How common is this and is there anything I should be concerned about?

Micro liposuction for the lower face and lower cheek area is relatively uncommon, mostly due to the long-term effects of removing facial fat which can contribute to a prematurely aged appearance. However, it can be effective for contouring areas like the jawline or cheeks, particularly with a skilled surgeon using small cannulas. 
An alternative or complementary option to consider is masseteric Botox, which targets the masseter muscles in the jaw to reduce their size and create a slimmer, more defined facial appearance without the need for surgery. Consulting with an experienced plastic surgeon can help determine the best approach based on your goals and facial structure.

Liposuction in the face is not common due to risk of nerve injury and bleeding due to the vascularity of the face.  However, if done with tumescence, small cannulas and care it can be effective.  I would recommend a temporal cheek lift rather than liposuction.  This would lift your cheeks and lower face using a small incision in the temple area.

You have a strong jawline with strong mandibular angles. This will not be affected by liposuction. In fact, your mandibular angles are attractive and do not cause a round face. Liposuction can cause an aging appearance. Your best option is to do nothing.

Also, what I can suppose from your smile shape, you have massive jaw line bone it self and muscle mass as well... Anyway, if there is some excessive fat, liposuction might show good result. But as was mentioned by other specialist, liposuction requires good skill as well.

Liposuction with a small cannula may be very efficient in experienced hands in particular along the jawline and jowls. It would be very difficult to say how it would work in your case based on this photo, unfortunately. Good luck.

Assessment is very difficult via photos to begin with, but a smiling photo completely obscures the anatomy. In general, removing facial fat via liposuction is a bad idea for many reasons, including internal scarring and creating defects where there should be fullness. Buccal fat removal is a hot fad that should also be tempered to the right person. You should have a consultation with a surgeon who understands and appreciates facial aging, even in the young.

Facial liposuction is an option and can help to slim the face.  There are benefits and risks to every procedure and your surgeon should review this with you at your consultation.  You can also consider Botox injections in the masseter muscle to slim the jawline.  The results are temporary, with the medication gradually wearing off over three to four months.

Please do not do liposuction on your face. You may look good for a while, but removing the face will age you when you are older. Plus, liposuction of the face is risky to the nerves. You could consider Botox to help thin your jaw muscles and slim you face.
