I had a TT 5 weeks ago & my surgeon has aspirated it twice, 60cc both times & I'm pretty sure it needs it again. It collects under the incision in the pubic region. What causes this & is it common?
Answer: Seroma Unfortunately, fluid collections can be common after tummy tuck. The food is just healing fluid that Dave's and helps of the tissues heal. This food is very inefficiently resort by the body. There are various times with this flu flu it cannot be completely absorbed in the body forms a rhine around the fluid. This leads to persisted for the collections. Your plastic surgeon should be able to manage this persistent fluid by one the following methods placing a catheter for an extended period of time until the fluid is resolvedInjecting medicines to scar down the space that the fluid occupies. Surgically removing the rhine that is protecting the fluid.Earl Stephenson Jr MD DDS FACS

Answer: Fluid Buildup After Tummy Tuck During a tummy tuck procedure, the abdominal skin and fat is raised off the abdominal muscles up to the level of the rib cage. Upon closure, the skin is pulled down and stitched in at the pubic area. The space that remains between the skin flap and the muscle will produce fluid build up for a certain number of days until the fat layer behind the skin sticks back down onto the muscle, obliterating that space. This is the reason we use drains after a tummy tuck. Occasionally even after the drains are removed there is a little bit of fluid build up and this can usually be resolved by aspirating that fluid with a needle. It is usually not necessary to replace the drains to correct this.

Answer: Persistent seroma after an abdominoplasty It sounds like you have a persistent seroma that has been aspirated several times. If you continue to have this problem a drain may need to be placed. This can be done through the skin with a seromacath.

Answer: Seroma after tummy tuck The fluid build up after tummy tuck is caused by the space under the tummy 'flap' and lack of adherence of the tissue. The space is eliminated by the use of a drain until the tissues heal or 'stick' together, or by tummy tuck with suture techniques which close the space without the use of a drain. Seromas are not common but frequently talked about, and eventually all resolve.
