I am 5 foot seven 127 pounds. I did put on 5 pounds after my procedure. I had to tummy tuck seven months ago. I am still swollen and I look in the mirror. I see a line wondering if it is separating.
Answer: Swelling and Line After Tummy Tuck Thank you, Eclectic172004, for your question regarding swelling and the line you're seeing after your tummy tuck. At seven months post-op, it is possible that you could still be experiencing some residual swelling, which is normal for some patients. However, without an in-person examination or seeing your before photos, it’s difficult to determine the exact cause of the line you're noticing. The line you see may actually be from the liposuction of the rectus abdominis (ab muscle) line, which is sometimes done to help accentuate the natural contours of your muscles. This type of contouring is common in tummy tucks to create a more defined appearance and does not indicate muscle separation. Based on your description and what I can see from the photos, it doesn’t appear to be any form of separation. From the looks of it, you seem to have a great result so far, but if you're concerned or the swelling persists, I recommend following up with your surgeon for a thorough evaluation to ensure everything is healing properly. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear Eclectic172004, I understand your concern. Based on your photos, it can be caused by swelling reduction. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Results At seven months post op swelling should be resolved, though some may still experience slight swelling after activity. Did you have your muscles addressed from the procedure? The line may be indicative of diastasis. I encourage you to return to your surgeon for reassurance and discussion of your concerns.

Answer: You are OK. In the process of tummy tuck, liposuction is often performed right up midline to accentuate muscular definition. The way you can tell if there is muscle separation is to do a sit up. If a ridge pops up in midline, there is separation. Rectus diastasis rarely re-occurs after correction. If you are truly concerned, see your plastic surgeon. Enjoy your nice result, and have a fun summer.
