Thank you for your question. I would recommend taking care of you root canal prior to undergoing you breast augmentation. Theoretically a bacteremia caused by dental work could lead to an increased risk of infection. Best of luck.
Hello and thank you for the question. Any procedure that can result in bacteremia (bacteria in blood) can theoretically seed the bacteria around the implant and potentially increase the risk of capsular contracture (scar formation around the implant). So, it's probably best to avoid breast augmentation early after such procedure. I agree with others that waiting a few weeks is reasonable. Different surgeons might have different opinions on this. I would discuss this with the your surgeon.Best,Pejman Aflaki, M.D.Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon
I don't see in your post where you mention how long ago you had your root canal. What you have read about root canals and the risk of breast augmentations becoming infected or developing a capsular contracture is related to the fact that when you have an invasive dental procedure such as a root canal, bacteria is showered in your blood stream which could potentially seed your implants. Once the acute phase of healing from a root canal has passed, your dental work is no longer a risk to your implants. I recommend 4 to 6 weeks after invasive dental procedures before undertaking a breast augmentation. If your root canal was more than 6 weeks ago it will not impact your augmentation.Best of luck to you!G. Robert Meger MD
Best to discuss with your surgeon and dentist. It is safest to have you healed from your root canal before proceeding with breast augmentation.
Thank you for your question. It is best to discuss this with your board certified plastic surgeon directly. If you have a root canal that requires treatment, I would generally advise my patients to have the root canal taken care of and then wait several weeks before having their breast augmentation. Please discuss this with your surgeon. I wish you all of the best.
Thanks much for reaching out. I would delay the breast augmentation for at least 6 weeks after your root canal. The infection risk is not worth it.I hope this helps :-)
Best to sort out the root canal first and then consider breast augmentation. Difficult to advise on line and best to contact your PS.
It is important to discuss this issue directly with your surgeon. I would recommend waiting 4-6 weeks after your dental procedures are completed before having breast augmentation surgery. There is a small, but real risk of bacterial contamination through the blood stream and the risk is not worth it. Good luck!
Thanks for your question. It is best to delay your augmentation for at least 2-4 weeks to allow the mouth to heal and avoid any chance of bacterial contamination. Speak with your surgeon and I'm sure they will agree.Best of luck with your continued healing.Dr T
I would highly suggest you discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Typically I advise my patients that dental work needs be completed several weeks before undergoing any kind of implant procedure. Good luck to you.
I understand your concern! I tell my patients who desire a closer cleavage to wear an underwire bra day and night as a splint (for months), so as they drop and settle with gravity, they stay close in the middle. This is also very important at night, as the breasts tend to fall out to the sides w...
Thank you for your question. The pain you are describing is quite normal and likely caused by muscle stretch and normal nerve healing. Follow up with your plastic surgeon should you experience increased pain or swelling. Best of luck.
Notify your surgeon's office about what you are experiencing. They will likely want to evaluate you and consider meds such as steroids for your rash and to stop your diarrhea.
Hi, It is always hard to predict what cup size you end up being after any surgery given that is a garment size and not the size of your breasts. However, as a rule of thumb every 150cc is approximately equivalent to one cup size.
The squishing is most likely a combination of air around your tissues and washing fluid used during surgery that will get absorbed and disappear shortly. If this persists and concerned, always a good idea to be seen by your surgeon.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
In terms of aftercare we advise patients that they can do very gentle exercise at 2 weeks and by 6 weeks like will be back to their usual gym routine. With climbing and/or gymnastics I would advise waiting at least 3 months before resuming these as these activities can cause stretching around y...
