Can liposuction be used to correct asymmetry from recent breast reduction? (Photo)

Small asymmetries after breast reduction can be adjusted with liposuction. Larger asymmetries after breast reduction or those that include a significant difference in shape are better treated with a small revision (re-reduction) to remove additional tissue.

Liposuction can be used to reduce breast volume, but it may also change the shape of the breast. This may then result in a different type of asymmetry. Your single photo is too limited to make a definitive recommendation, but you may have a better outcome with a complete surgical revision.

Hi. It is hard to say just based on the photo but my inclination would be to revise the right side. I think you are going to need tissue removed and tightened up on the lower and outer portions of the right breast to bring things into better symmetry. I would make sure that you bring up those concerns with your surgeon. If you still have hesitancy you can always consider getting a second opinion from someone else. I would recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon with good experience with breast reductions as well as breast lifts.

Good question! Your right breast is not that much bigger then your left breast, it is actually much lower. This means that part of the issue is excess skin….. and liposuction will not help with excess skin, only excess fat. Liposuction will actually deflate the breast and make it drop even more!
I believe a surgical revision is your only real option for symmetry. You should wait at least six months before surgery. If the revision is done on both a sides, make sure to ask for a fuller upper pole. Depending on the technique this can be done with your own breast tissue.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

It is possible that you may find improvement in symmetry with liposuction, but it could lead to shape concerns which would ultimately take you back to a revision. I encourage you to discuss your concerns and options with your surgeon.

The right breast is not only larger, but lower and a tad more lateral. I feel your best option would be to revise just the right breast. Doing both again may increase the odds of residual asymmetry lateral.

From your photo, significant breast asymmetry is noted. Minimal asymmetries of breast size can be corrected with liposuction, but if with significant asymmetry, the removal of underlying tissue will result in the development of overlying loose skin (sag). Removal of excess breast tissue AND overlying skin is required to improve symmetry.
