Thanks for your question. Every plastic surgeon has different instructions, so please consult with your surgeon. I generally recommend a compression garment, extra towels, tissues, and have all of your prescription medications filled. You should also have comfortable and baggy clothing, like sweat pants and button up shirts.
In my office patients are provided everything the need for liposuction. I do use compressive garments in the patients are measured for the proper size which is delivered to the operating room. Outside of that, being clean and healthy is about all that is expected. Prescriptions are provided at the time of the preoperative examination.
Please speak to your physician about this. If they do not have a list, complete packet for you, then you should be going elsewhere. The items required/needed are very specific to each physician and their plans. Best, Dr. Emer.
Prior to liposuction, I would recommend buying arnica gel. This will help your body break down any post-op bruising that may occur. Just massage it into any area that is bruised. You will need an old blanket or towels the first 24 hours to sit or lay on, since you may have some drainage. Also, have some movies or books ready for the first couple of days as you recover. Best of luck!
JessieOther than the usual instructions for before and after care, you should try to be at an optimal weight to get the best result. Check out the link below to an article I wrote about plastic surgery diet. Good luck
Thanks for sharing your question Jessie. This is a great question for the plastic surgeon who will be performing your procedure. In our office we provide a detailed list and nearly all of the items needed. We also take each patients measurements for their custom-fit surgical garment. Very best to you. -Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS
You need to ask you surgeon, because there are so many different things that can be suggested. Best of luck.
Honestly, your surgeon should be providing the binder. There is nothing else you need except perhaps for a stool softener in case the anesthesia and pain mess constipate you. Once you are out f the surgical binder, you may move on to Spanx or another light compression item but, unless you are certain of the sizing, it is best to wait.
Physical examination would be necessary but it looks as though there might be some benefit in suctioning around the knees as well as down the medial calves. Overall though the legs are shapely
Absolutely, this is a great idea to help with bruising and swelling. I usually tell patients to drink pineapple juice, but if you have the bromelain available use it. Always check with your plastic surgeon to make sure they approve this regimen for your post operative treatment.Good...
Based on your photo, I think you would be a good candidate for Smartlipo which I perform in the office under local anesthesia. Best of luck to you!
Liposuction in the axillary region is a very nice procedure that can help you achieve what you want without any big skin incision or excision. In some instances, one is removing skin as well, but this would depend on a physical exam. As far as healing goes, you should be fine with a...
Today to track record of dissolution of fat by way of injections also referred to as mesotherapy has been dismal. Perhaps this will improve in the future but you should be very wary of removal of fat by these techniques.
This is a situation that should be directed to your plastic surgeon. They would be in the best position to determine whether this is normal healing or if intervention, like antibiotics, is needed.
