That generally is deposited in biologically privileged areas. Patients with substantial weight loss after in abdominoplasty or liposuction can have it return.
Tummy tuck removes the excess of skin and fat. The remaining tissue acts as normal. In case you gain weight it will increase in volume, in case you loose weight will become slimmer. Just try to keep close to your ideal weight and your abdomen will remain good looking.
Yes and no. The fat cells which are removed in surgery are gone for good. However, the remaining fat cells respond as fat cells do, and if your caloric intake is too high (or your caloric expenditure too low), then fat will accumulate in these cells. Weight gain after the abdominoplasty procedure is a product of your diet and exercise, not due to the surgical procedure! Try to get to your goal weight and maintain it-- that is the best way to promote long-lasting health and set yourself up for the most aesthetic result postoperatively. Best wishes,-Erik Hoy, M.D.
People who do tummy tucks for fat are doing the procedure for the wrong reason. A tummy tuck is designed to get rid of extra skin -- if there is a little excess fat, it can be removed too --- but for a big fat tummy, diet and exercise are the first options, then when you are at your ideal weight, get rid of the excess skin. Fat is simple -- if you eat more food -- ie excess calories, you will gain weight and the fat will have to b e deposited somewhere. cosmetic surgery does not cure obesity
