Crohns disease can be very debilitating. The presence of this condition is not, by itself, a reason not to have a tummy tuck. I would make certain that your internist agrees that you are capable of having this surgery. I would strongly suggest that you get sufficient treatment to make sure your disease is not active before you have surgery.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. If your Crohn's is well controlled and you are otherwise healthy and you can obtain medical clearance from your primary physician, then you can safely proceed with a tummy tuck. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. If you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck and your Crohns is under good control you most likely could have your procedure. You would need clearance from the gi doctor and another consideration is being possibly being able to hold some of the Crohn's medicine in the post op period to ensure good healing.Best of Luck
You would need a physical exam by a board certified plastic surgeon in order to determine if you are a good surgical candidate for a tummy tuck. In addition you would need to be evaluated by your GI or primary care doctor in order to determine if you are a good medical candidate for surgery. I hope you find this information useful.
