My stomach fat is distributed such that I have virtually none above the belly button, and everything is below in a "pouch". As long as I can remember, I've had this beneath my belly button. I've tried not wearing underwear, better posture, etc. but it won't go away. I wonder if it's because I wore too-tight briefs as a kid combined with bad posture, making a permanent indentation? It makes me look fatter than I am and I'd like to be able to get the smooth stomachs that I see on most girls.

Answer: Stomach fat is distributed below belly button in a pouch. Options? There are a variety of procedures that can produce a good cosmetic result in the appropriate patient: non-surgical fat contouring with radio-frequency technology like Vanquish, liposuction, or a mini tummy tuck. Each produce different degrees of improvement.Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on limited photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
