Can a BBL be done over butt and hip implants? Hoping to achieve an hourglass shape.

I'Ve buttocks implants and hips implants a few years ago. Now I want to get a BBL to gain an hourglass shape and make the implants looks more natural. Is any doctor in this forum able to help me with this? Please advise. Thank you!l

You can absolutely fat graft over a butt (and a breast) implant if you want a more enhanced shape. If you still see your surgeon who put the implant in they’re probably a great person to start with.

I recommend you schedule a consult for a proper evaluation. Make sure the surgeon you choose has extensive experience with BBLs and clean credentials. Thank you for your question. The answer is yes; fat transfer can be done over implants. But the question is would it be enough to achieve your goals? It is hard to tell without pictures or talking directly to you. Few things to consider: to achieve an hourglass figure, you need to consider your body type and your skin elasticity. Lipo 360 would most likely be needed in combination with the fat transfer to contour and shape your body.

Hello, Thank you for your question! Without seeing you, it is hard to give you a specific recommendation,but just doing liposuction might be enough to achieve your hourglass goal. Depending on your goals, and your hourglass goal a BBL can be added to increase the size or just make your implants look more natural. A consultation would be needed to see what is best for you.

You may find different opinion on this topic. Considering that fat grafting is not absolutely "clean procedure", since cannula is introduced through the skin multiple times, it carries risk of implant contamination and infection, which may result in removal of implants. You should discuss this issue in person with at least two board certified plastic surgeons who use both techniques for buttock/hip shaping. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your question. If you have implants in your buttocks and hips area I will not recommend you to have BBL or fat transfer this can be risky and compromised your implants, however you can still have 360 Liposculpture to archive your hourglass shape.

The issue I have had with BBL post buttock/hip implants, is the higher than normal fat loss possibly due to the pressure exerted on the transferred fat due to the firm implants.

It’s definitely possible to graft fat in the soft tissues above implants.
Whether it will create the effect you’re looking for is another story.
It’s important to first define the problem.
We call this making an assessment or in other words make a correct diagnosis.
If the primary problem is related to miss positioning or a poorly placed implant then fat transfer is not likely to solve your problem. 
Without pictures we can’t make an assessment.
In order for fat transfer to be successful there should ideally be an abundance of host tissue.
And plants will not serve as host tissue and generally only the soft tissues between the skin and the implant conserve as post tissue to support the grafted fat.
The more host tissue there is the more successful fat grafting tends to be.
Delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. for that reason I suggest patients have multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of previous BBL results.
It’s unlikely you’ll find someone who has a substantial number of before and after pictures of patients who’ve had previous implants but regardless you’re looking for providers who have a consistent track record with a proven number of cases.
For reference and experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures.
Being shown a handful of preselected pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider.
For that reason patients should push providers to open up their portfolios and show as many pictures as they’re willing to.
To find the right provider often requires having numerous consultations during which patients should properly vet their provider to find who has the greatest skill and most experience.Best,
