Because aspirin is a blood thinner, it can keep the blood vessels from healing as quickly as they normally would. This effect of low-dose prophylactic aspirin therapy, however, should not affect you much when receiving injectable treatments of Juvederm , Voluma, Restylane or Silk, and might not necessarily be a reason for you to stop your aspirin treatment. If the risks outweigh the benefits of stopping your aspirin therapy, then the recommendations of Arnica and Bromelain tablets can help support tissue healing and minimize bruising and swelling.
I have injected many patients on a daily aspirin regimen with varying results; some have no bruising while others have bruises that are evident. I would plan as though you will bruise. Perhaps schedule during a time when you will have no major engagements in the 3 or 4 days following.
Thank you for your question. There is no contraindication to receiving fillers while on a daily aspirin regimen, but you should be aware that you will have a higher risk of bruising. Talk to your doctor about methods to reduce your risk of bruising, and ways to manage any that may develop.
It is possible to have an injection of Voluma or Restylane even if you are on a daily aspirin regimen, but the development of bruising would be more likely.
I agree with the other physicians that you can safely undergo injectable fillers, such as Juvederm Voluma or Restylane, even while on baby aspirin. I also agree that you are a significant risk for bruising. How can you reduce the risk (or at least the extent) of bruising?1. Begin use of SinEcch (arnica montana) a few days prior to the injections. This homeopathic medication will significantly reduce bruising. 2. Avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day following the injections.3. Use ice over the injection sites for the first few hours.4. Do not lie flat on your back for at least 12-24 hours following the injection. Sleep with an extra pillow.
Regular Aspirin use is not a contraindication to Voluma or Restylane treatment; because Aspirin is a blood-thinner, it increases one's risk for bruising after injections relative to a person not taking Aspirin. My experience has varied from almost no bruising to pronounced and dark bruising in patients on blood-thinners, and my personal observation is that some blood-thinner patients will develop bruises in a more delayed fashion than a patient who is not on blood-thinners. If you want to proceed with treatment, discuss your medical history and medication use with your treating injector, and develop a strategy to minimize bruising as much as possible--some helpful steps are cold compresses during and after treatment, topical and/ or oral Arnica and Bromelain supplements, and avoidance of increased blood pressure after treatment (I usually recommend patients saty away from intense exercise and heavy lifting for the rest of the day after injections). Picking a treatment day after which you can lay low for 3-5 days is also a good idea. Good luck!
You can stay on aspirin while receiving Voluma injections but you might bruise more easily. That being said, I don't see too much bruising with Voluma even in my patients on anticoagulants. If you have the approval of your primary care doctor, you can hold the aspirin for a week or so before you get your Voluma, however, do not do this on your own or if you have ever had a heart attack or stroke.
There is increased risk of bruising and maybe swelling. Voluma is an ideal treatment for enhancement of the mid face. It works beautifully to correct malar fat descension and aging of the mid face. In some case it is been shown to last up to 2 years. It is not FDA approved for any other location other than mid face. It is a deep injection just off the bone and requires expertise in injecting. I would recommend you discuss your issue with a board certified dermatologist.
I do this all the time. Cannulas will decrease the chance of bruising. Bruising is not a major problem, just a cosmetic one. I hit all my bruises with the Excel V or VBeam to decrease the duration of the bruise to only a couple days.
There are no contraindications with aspirin use and injection of fillers such a juvederm, Voluma or restylane (among others)- but since aspirin is a blood thinner, you'll be more likely to bruise after the injections. Just be prepared- and make sure you let your doctor know so THEY are prepared.
This is not a common side effect you should contact your surgeon to discuss. Voluma is an ideal treatment for enhancement of the mid face. It works beautifully to correct malar fat descension and aging of the mid face. In some case it is been shown to last up to 2 years. It is not FDA...
Symptoms include pain, change in color, swelling, skin breakdown or pus pimples. I suggest if you are concerned to see your physician. This is a rare complication but can occur from direct injection into a vessel or from compression of the filler around a vessel. Best, Dr. Emer.
I agree with my colleagues here. These are virtually not concerns. All fillers do carry the rare but possible risk of vascular occlusion, which can lead to tissue damage. Scar tissue however is not a significant risk, and this shouldn’t affect future fat transplants.
