I hate my implants! How long do I have to wait to get these things out of my body?

i never seem to have any luck! !spent months researching Drs and breast augmentation and though i had it right this time! we talked about 300cc to 320cc which i was hoping would just give me a little umph and get me in the B cup range. i went in for surgery and came out with 400cc and im freaking out! they are huge! i can feel the implant on the bottom and it makes me panic! how long do i have to wait to get these things out of my body? i keep ending up looking more and more like a freak show

Thank you for your question.  It sounds like this may not be the first time you have had issues with breast implants.  At this point removal might be your best option.  They can be removed at any time as long as you are sure that it's what you want

Every patient signs consent forms pre-operatively regarding their implant size, style, etc. Ask your surgeon to give you a copy of your signed l consent forms. You need to address your concerns with your operating surgeon.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your breast augmentation.  Technically you can have the implants removed at any time.  Generally it's recommended to wait six months to allow the breasts to heal and for you to adjust to your new look but if you really want them out you can do so when you want.

I would suggest waiting at least 6 months to give your tissue time to heal, let your implants settle, and let all swelling subside. Then, if you are not happy with your ne look, consider exchanging for smaller implants or possibly removing them. I would suggest letting your surgeon know how you are feeling  now.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns after breast augmentation surgery. There are no specific "guidelines" when it comes to timing for breast implant removal.  Most important will be:  make your decisions carefully so as to avoid the need for additional surgery subsequently. In other words, you will need to decide whether you wish to have breast implants removed altogether versus having  smaller breast implants replaced. I would suggest that you communicate your concerns/questions directly with your plastic surgeon in a calm/constructive fashion. Hopefully, working together you will come up with the best plan to achieve your goals. Best wishes.

The choice of  the patient when doing breast augmentation are1: size of implant2: shape of implant3: type of implant4: position of implant5: location of incision.If you are absolutely sure you do not want the implants, the earlier they are removed the better and less surgery.Can not guarantee the ultimate shape and size and symmetry of the breast.If you want smaller implants, then exchange to smaller size of your choice at the same time.This is a new expemse

Firstly you need to ask your surgeon why you were given 400cc when you discussed a B cup breast size. Secondly if you are that uncomfortable about your breast size then ask your surgeon to either remove your implants or replace them with a smaller size like first discussed. You can remove or replace implants within the first 4 weeks. If you dislike them that much it would be better to remove them earlier than later as your skin will start to stretch to suit the implant. I'm very sorry for the problems you're having.  You said "this time" - were these replacement implants?  A 400 cc implant is only a little larger than a 320 (20% or so, but not off by several cup sizes) so I'm surprised that at a revision or secondary procedure, you're still unhappy with your appearance.You need to speak with your plastic surgeon and explain what you're unhappy about.  Implants come in different sizes, of course; but they also come in different shapes (round vs anatomic) and profiles (low, medium and high).  They can be silicone or saline, textured or smooth.There are so many choices that you need to have researched it well (it sounds like you did) and then be on the same page with your surgeon.But at this point you'll need to consider leaving them in place as they are now (with the hope that you'll eventually be more comfortable with them), replacing them with smaller implants (although if they will now be much smaller than what you had before you may need a lift for shaping) or removing them altogether, with the understanding that you may need a lift (though you don't have to do that right away).It's a complicated maze of options but, for your own benefit, you have to try to stay calm and reasoned as you go through the list and try to make the right decision for yourself.  Doing this with a friend may help provide some perspective and keep you focused on what your priorities are, and then you should do the same when you meet with your plastic surgeon.Again, I'm sorry for your dissatisfaction at this stage, but I hope this has helped and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf100@RealSelf

Sorry to hear of your situation.    Implant size needs to be discussed before surgery.    Anyway you should have a long talk with your doctor.  Possibly replacement with smaller implants would help.   Sometimes it takes a while to adapt to implants.    I have had a few patients over my 30 year career that wanted their implants out and I saw them weekly and they all kept the implants and were happy.   Go talk to your doctor.  My Best,  Dr C

Implants can be removed at any time. If you anticipate an exchange or replacement, you should wait until the site has healed before starting over. You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.
