Is it normal to have asymmetrical breast 2 weeks post op? (Photo)

Question

Its been a little over 2 weeks since my BA, and my left seems fuller, but more to the side. While my right is a bit tighter, and seems more to the center. Im freaking out! terrified that my breast will look uneven, or having a capsular contraction. Has anyone experince this? is it normal? :(

Hello.  It is common for breast implants to drop at different rates and for one to look bigger than the other and feel tighter soon after surgery. You're likely still swollen. Ask your PS about those at your next visit. Best, Dr. ALDO.

Based on the photos provided it looks like your breast implants are sitting in a nearly symmetrical position.  The shape can change for several months so hopefully you will be very happy with the final result once everything settles.

It is very common to have some minor asymmetry for a few weeks or even months after a breast augmentation.  I would visit with your surgeon and let them evaluate the issues, but I dont see anything in your photos that looks particularly worrisome. Minor degrees of muscle tightness and swelling need to time to resolve before being too concerned about the final appearance. I tell my patients to expect their implants to be too different, too tight and too high for two months.

This is very common, especially since you're still pretty early on in your recovery. Just wait it out for about three months or so, and any asymmetry generally corrects itself. If you feel that your higher breast is firmer and too tight, you can return to your surgeon to see if you have cc, but at this time it's probably just part of the normal recovery process.

From the photographs I don't see anything to be concerned about. Minor asymmetries due to swelling are common in gradually disappear as healing progresses.

At just 2 weeks post-op, your results are appropriate.  At this early stage of your recovery, it's common to experience some asymmetry.  No breasts are exactly symmetrical so keep in mind that it is also common to have some asymmetry even after you are completely healed.  Continue to follow your surgeon's post-op instructions and be sure to discuss your concerns to put your mind at rest. Give it a few months and re-evaluate at that time. ac

Its quite common for one side to be more swollen than the other and remain so for up to 3-4 mos.  It is still way too early.  Its also a bit too early for capsular contracture.  If you are concerned speak with your PS and get his/her thoughts as he/she will be best able to give you advice.  Best wishes.

and often improves with time as you heal, your breasts soften, and the implants settle.  I don't appreciate any marked differences in your breast size from your photos.  Let your surgeon know of your concerns during your appointments and your surgeon should provide you the needed reassurances you desire at this time.

At 2 weeks it is still very early in the healing process after breast augmentation and some asymmetry is normal. As the implants soften, settle and drop with breast shape will change.
