Four days after surgery and my lips are still swollen? (photos)

Question

My doctors office said four days they wouldn't be bruised or swollen anymore.. But this is not the case I have a hard time eating, talking, chewing, etc I hope they're not going to feel this hard when they're healed either... Which is my main question I asked a similar question days ago but no doctors replied.. Excuse my nose I have some stitches hanging out

Swelling takes a few weeks to improve and it is common to have swelling of the lips from surgery around the nose.  Speak to your physician if you are concerned. Best, Dr. Emer.

Yes, the lips can swell after rhinoplasty, which typically resolves with time. Four days is very early after rhinoplasty too. If you haven't already, then speak with your surgeon directly regarding these issues.Best,Dr. Chaboki

4 days is not unusual for lip swelling.  Think about how much lips swell simply when you accidentally bite it, now realize that you underwent a surgical procedure!  As the swelling goes down,  you will continue to have less and less pain and you will note that you are able to eat more comfortably, your smile will start to feel the same as preop, and so on. it can take 7-10 days or longer depending on the patients for swelling to come down.  You will be back to normal soon.  Best of luck! you will look great I'm sure.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I am sorry to hear of your difficulties after filler placement but rest assured these symptoms will all get better over the next 10 days.  It often takes up to 2 weeks for fillers to soften and the tissues to appear more natural.  In the meantime try reducing the swelling by using cold compresses to your lips and elevating your head at night with a couple of extra pillows behind your back.  You may want to also consider using Arnica Montana and bromelain as supplements.  Hang in there!

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs.  Postprocedure swelling and bruising can sometimes take several weeks to fully resolve.  Icing can help during the first 48 hours after your procedure.  Arnica can also help to minimize postprocedure swelling and bruising.  Please be patient and stay in close contact with your plastic surgeon during your recovery process.  Best wishes!

You are only a few days out from rhinoplasty it will likely take 1-2 weeks for the bruising to go away.  Swelling will persist for a while.
