Hi - I have a fairly small mouth, and I was wondering if hyaluronic acid fillers could improve the "area" of my lips. I don't think I'd want much more volume in my upper lip beyond what it'd take to correct the asymmetry. However, I was wondering if adding filler to the lower lip could draw some attention away from my jaw - ideally, I'd like that pouty lower lip that sort of "folds" toward the chin, but I'm not sure if that's even remotely realistic or what it'd take to get there. Thanks!
Answer: Small mouth - can lip fillers improve lower face proportions? Thank you for your question and photographs. I think use of a hyaluronic acid filler is an excellent choice to enhance your lips. Very little volume will be needed to improve upon the asymmetry of your upper lip while the remainder of a single syringe can improve your lower lip volume to produce the pout that you described. I think you would be an excellent candidate.

Answer: Filler You should start out with 1cc of juvederm filler and go from there. You do not want to overdo too much filler in the lips. It also depends on the look you are going for too. You can always add more filler to the lips if needed. Just remember if you are going to do your lips and you do not want to bruise you should not take any aspirins or anything that will thin the blood since brusing can occur.

Answer: Lip Augmentation Thank you for your question. Yes, from your photos you could benefit from conservative lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm to help improve symmetry in the lips. As HA fillers are not permanent you can have them dissolved with hyaluronidase if unhappy with the results. I recommend having a consultation with and expert injector to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!

Answer: Lip Augmentation Thanks for your question. This is a question that we get asked often by our patients. In my professional experience, it is possible to consistently gain better symmetry and overall shape of lips with injection of hyaluronic acid lip fillers as it allows you to completely reverse the results if you do not like them. While these are temporary (lasting about 6 months) they are quick, simple and have minimal pain or down time. For the best results please consult a board certified dermatologist with experience with dermal filler and hyaluronic acid cosmetic injections.
