Thank you for the question regarding whether you should undergo a BBL before you have future babies and then, eventually a tummy tuck. Short answer is “yes “. If you want a bigger buttock, I would suggest you undergo liposuction of the abdomen, love handles, back and any other areas where you have fat deposits. This fat can be washed and injected into the buttocks. If your buttocks and fat deposits bother you and you are healthy, I would go ahead with the surgery. In your case, I would wait till you have finished having babies before you undergo your tummy tuck. When you do undergo your tummy tuck, you can have additional fat transferred to the buttock. The Brazilian butt lift or BBL procedure takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete, depending on how much fat needs to be harvested. I perform BBL procedure under general anesthesia, though some plastic surgeons prefer IV anesthesia. Plan on a 1 to 2 week recovery. You are able to return to a sitting type job at approximate two weeks. If your job is more physical, you may need three or four weeks off. Every plastic surgeon is different; however, I do not advise my patients to sit on the buttock for three weeks after the BBL procedure. If you have any more questions regarding the tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, please contact my office. Since an abdominoplasty can be a difficult procedure, please seek an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon with significant experience performing tummy tucks. Do your research. Make sure your chosen plastic surgeon has performed at least 100 abdominoplasties. Make sure they have the before and after pictures to prove it. Carefully examine their before and after pictures and check their reviews on RealSelf. Good luck! Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
