Hi,Congratulations on your surgery! Thank you for your post. You are only 6 weeks post op, which is too soon in the healing process to know how things are going to look. After a breast augmentation implants can take up to 6 months to settle. I would recommend calling your plastic surgeon with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. In patients with a tight lower breast pole it often takes several months for the tissue to relax and stretch out to create a more natural, rounded shape. I would allow at least 6 months to pass before assessing your surgical results. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon in patients with an underdeveloped lower pole to feel the edge of their implants which is not totally covered by muscle. It usually take implants several weeks to settle and drop. This should help to round out your lower pole. Be patient, it looks like you will end up with a nice result.
I appreciate your question. You’re still early in the process of healing and you’re seeing signs of tight tissues at the bottom of the breasts. It takes time for this to fully stretch and, overall, it appears your making good progress! Good Dr. Aldo
Thank you for your pictures. It sounds like you had some form of a tuberous breast (constricted lower breast). Tuberous breast shape can be improved with breast augmentation and typically the lower portion of the breast does round out in most cases. Please give this very nice result time. Best wishes.
It is difficult to tell just from the pictures provided, but your implants appear to be "high-riding" at this time. This is very normal at just 6 weeks postop. I tell all of my patients that it takes 2 weeks before they get to be happy or sad about the SIZE of their breasts. This is due to postop swelling. And it can take up to 6 MONTHS before they get to happy or sad about the POSITION of the breast implant. Oftentimes, the implants ride high before settling into their final more natural location. Continue to be patient and work with your plastic surgeon on different techniques to get the implants settled. Thanks,Dr. Howland
Dear kebrown10,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the early stages of the healing process at 6 weeks post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Hello and thank you for the question. It would be helpful to see front and oblique views. The lower pole looks flat as you mentioned, which could mean your implants have not completely dropped to their final location behind the breast tissue, a process that could take several weeks. Wearing a breast-binder can expedite the process. Please discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. Best,Pejman Aflaki, M.D.Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon
I would have to see you in person and look at you at other angles. you may be seeing/feeling the implant against a tight lower pole. With time it may stretch out a bit more or you may need a revision.
Without seeing the preoperative photos it is hard to assess. You have had a constricted lower pole prior to your surgery which will need some time to expand once the implants have settled. Final results are not typically seen for several months. Be patient, and make sure to bring this to your surgeon's attention at your next follow up appointment. Good luck!!
