A BBL stands for Brazilian butt lift. It is a gluteal procedure. Without seeing your buttocks, we can’t make an assessment regarding a gluteal procedure. The BBL does include liposuction for the purpose of harvesting fat. I think your question is if you’re a good candidates for Liposuction? In regards to procedures for your abdomen, the choice of operation should be based on having a clear understanding of what the underlying problem or ideology is. There are four tissue layers that determine what the abdomen looks like. These are abdominal skin laxity due to previous pregnancies or weight loss, excess subcutaneous fat, muscle separation from previous pregnancies, excess visceral, or intra-abdominal fat. Liposuction only reduces subcutaneous fat. A Tummy tuck primarily treats, abdominal skin laxity, and muscle separation from previous pregnancies. Excess visceral fat can only be reduced through weight loss. In your case, I believe you have all four. If I was going to list these in order of significance, I would say that number one is obesity and excess visceral fat. After that is abdominal muscle separation followed by skin laxity and finally access subcutaneous fat. The impact of excess visceral, fat and muscle separation can have a fairly similar appearance on the body. Both conditions cost the abdominal wall to bulge forward. Differentiating between muscle separation, and visceral fat is fairly straightforward. There are a couple of ways of determining how much visceral fat is contributing in comparison to muscle separation. One is to see what your abdomen looks like when you lay on your back. Individuals only have muscle separation will have a completely flat abdomen that sinks in when they lay on their back while in individuals who have access visual fat will have an abdomen distill bulges slightly when they lay on their back. Another way of differentiating between access visceral, fat and muscle separation is to see how much pressure it takes to press your abdomen flat. In reference a flat abdominal wall should make a straight line between your sternum and your pubic bone. If you can press your abdomen flat creating a straight line between your sternum and your pubic bone with your non-dominant hand and hold it in place for a few minutes then access visceral fat may not be playing so much of an issue. If it takes a significant amount of pressure to push your abdominal wall flat and doing so makes it feel like you can’t take a deep breath then visceral fat is the main issue. Regardless your weight loss should be number one on your list. With that losing weight first you’re not going to have good results from any cosmetic surgical procedure. I don’t know how much you need to lose, but it needs to be enough that you can easily press your abdomen flat with your non-dominant hand. I’m guessing that you probably need a 40 pounds of weight loss. After successful weight loss, the best procedure in regards to your abdomen is going to be a Full tummy tuck. BBL can be done to augment the buttocks and hips and improve the contour of the hips, waist back and under arm area.In my opinion, it should be in that order. Weight loss needs to come first and the second most imported procedure is going to be a tummy tuck followed by a BBL if indicated. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
