After 70lb weight loss I booked a tummy tuck BBL combo but have considered switching to a breast aug and lift instead of the BBL because I’m concerned the 1 liter maximum is going to hinder my results and that I won’t have enough to justify the cost or difficult recovery. I had a BBL three years ago with 1000cc per side. I was able to finally lose 70lbs, however most of the loss came from my butt, hips and breasts. Will 500cc’s per side be enough to achieve projection and fill hips in?

Answer: A well-executed 500 cc fat injection to the right area can make a noticeable difference! Hello A well-executed 500 cc fat injection to the right area can make a noticeable difference, but the choice is yours. You can also consider procedures like lipoabdominoplasty, a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift), or a breast lift with implants. The fat removed during lipoabdominoplasty can be used for the BBL or to enhance the upper pole of the breasts if you've already had a breast lift. However, keep in mind that after lipoabdominoplasty, you will need to lie on your back, which may lead to increased fat loss in the buttocks due to the pressure on the area where the fat was transferred.

Answer: BBL and weight loss patients The greatest impact is going to come from a surgical procedure that best addresses the primary underlying ideology or problem. Weight loss patients typically have skin laxity as the number one issue, causing body contour problems. For that reason, almost all efforts should be focused on treating skin laxity with more skin, tightening surgery, and more extensive skin tightening surgery. In your case that may mean an extended or wraparound tummy tuck. Liposuction and fat transfer is not gonna have much impact when skin laxity is the primary problem. With the 70 pound weight loss it’s not the loss of fat but rather skin laxity that’s causing most of the problems. I think Liposuction will leave you disappointed and a second BBL is probably not going to Deliver what you want unless you deal with the skin laxity first. Even after appropriate skin surgery, getting good projection from the BBL is going to be challenging. For that reason, I suggest you focus on the procedure. They’re going to have the greatest impact, and those are for sure surgeries related to skin laxity. A breast lift and extended or wraparound tummy tuck sounds like a far better combination to me. A proper assessment always requires an in person consultation with an examination. In the hands of the right provider you should be guided correctly in both understanding the underlying problem, procedure selection, including limitations of each surgery. As a general statement, weight loss patients typically do not get good liposuction or fat transfer results Best, Mats Hagström MD
