Choosing the correct procedure should be based on having a clear understanding of what the underlying problem or ideology is. There are four variables that determine what the abdomen looks like. Generally speaking if somebody doesn’t like the way their abdomen looks it is always because of one or more of these for different tissue variables. The four variables that determine the appearance of the abdomen are as follows. Abdominal skin laxity generally due to previous pregnancies weight loss or age, excess subcutaneous fat, muscle separation from previous pregnancies, or excess visceral fat. Previous pregnancies, and do not change fat distribution. Pregnancy related changes are basically due to skin, laxity and or muscle separation. Ideal candidate for liposuction should have only subcutaneous fat as the only variable, keeping them from looking their best. This means that the best candidate for liposuction should have tight skin, minimal muscle separation, and no excess visceral fat. Every once in a while, somebody comes in for a consultation who meets those criteria. In reality, most people seeking liposuction are not ideal candidate, and having some combination of variable tissue issues, contributing to a less than perfect, looking abdomen. Candidacy for surgery is typically more of a spectrum than yes, or no or black-and-white. The most common liposuction treatment is the abdomen of postpartum women. A significant number of these women would do better having a tummy tuck, but that procedure is more than what patients want to go through enough negative drawbacks, leaving patience to choose the easier alternative, even though it may be limited in what it can deliver. There’s also a major variation in the skill and experience when it comes to delivering consistent quality Liposuction Resort among different providers. This includes not only the technical skill of doing Liposuction well, but also the ability to make accurate assessments, and being able to deliver predictable outcomes with having sufficient numbers of before, and after pictures to be able to clearly demonstrate exactly what somebody’s results will look like. Because there’s so much variation in Liposuction’s skills among plastic surgeons, patient should be significantly more critical when choosing providers. In my opinion, the best way to find the right provider if I have a multiple in person consultations. Do not assume somebody has mastered Liposuction because you’re bored, certified in plastic surgery, I have years of experience I have an overall good reputation. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. Considering that the consequence of poorly done Liposuction can lead to a lifetime of disfigurement. I suggest patient start the process by at least having five in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up your portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who have similar body characteristics to your own. And experience plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider. Liposuction Resort are generally based on two single variables. The first is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure, and the second is the skills and experience of the provider. Both of these variables end up being equally as important as it comes to delivering consistent quality results. Somebody who’s a good candidate, for Liposuction has the potential of having a good outcome, but can also be left is figured if they don’t choose their provider correctly. Somebody is not a good candidate for Liposuction, and does not have the potential to have quality outcomes, regardless of who does the procedure. When, in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
