Is it safe for me to get a breast lift? I have a benign cyst on my left breast

I see no problem with proceeding with a mastopexy. You may want to consider having the benign cyst removed at the time of this procedure.

It should be safe for you to have this as long as your plastic surgeon and the breast doctors agree. If the cyst is to be followed by mammogram it will change positions. Sometimes if there is concern, the cyst could be removed at the time of the lift, but this depends on where the cyst is located.

Many women undergoing a breast lift have benign cysts in their breasts. This should pose no problem as far as the procedure or the recovery is concerned. If possible, it may be beneficial to have this cyst removed at the time of your augmentation.For the best results seek the consultation of a plastic

Thanks for your question.  The presence of a benign cyst should not preclude you from going ahead with breast lift surgery.  Many patients have benign cysts in their breasts which are often removed during the breast lift procedure.  Discuss with your surgeon and good luck.

If after the previous biopsy I presume and mammogram you were told to do a follow-up mammogram in six months then you may consider removing the cysts prior to the breast lift or even possibly at the time of the lift to be certain that this service could cause you no problems. If you were told at the time of that previous test that this is completely benign and there is nothing else to be done with no follow-up necessary then this probably is a nonissue. The best thing you can do is ask your general surgeon or your radiologists their opinion prior to your breast lift.

Certainly, if the radiologist interpreting your mammogram is certain that the cyst in question is benign, then proceeding with your breast lift should pose no problem.  Most benign cysts can be safely resolved with needle-aspiration in the office by your surgeon or under ultrasound guidance by your radiologist.  Hope this helps.

Dear fsteph,Thank you so much for your question. As you know it is always good to have a mammogram if you are 30 or over and are considering breast surgery. Please discuss this mammographic finding with your surgeon. Depending upon the position and size of the mass, the breast lift can be designed to accommodate it. Many breast lift surgeries do not even enter the breast tissue per se, but are a skin operation desikgned to create a tighter "skin bra" to hold up the breast. If a small reduction (removal of a bit of breast tissue) is done to facilitate the shaping of the breast then this can be designed to possibly biopsy the mass to confirm that it is benign. In short, it is safe to proceed with your lift in the face of a benign cyst. Did your surgeon discuss this during your consult? If not please talk. Many benign breast conditions are not affected by a lift.Position is "lifted"

the chances are you are having the operations done under the muscle. The surgery should be unrelated to the benign cyst. Of course check with your own doctor.
