I am interested in achieving a natural look and like the teardrop shaped MemoryShape implants, but I am worried about the possibility of the implants rotating and/or shifting over time. Is this a realistic concern? I am 5'9", 135lbs. I am hoping that I can still achieve a natural look with a C cup, but I am not sure if that will be too big for my body. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: Should I choose the Mentor MemoryGel or MemoryShape implants? Thank you for the question and picture. You are starting at a good place and should have a very nice outcome with breast augmentation surgery. As you consider breast augmentation surgery, the most important decision you make is NOT size/profile of breast implant, but selection of plastic surgeon. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Again, have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining which operation and/or breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "C cup" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Therefore, I ask that my patients not base their communication preoperatively OR their satisfaction with the outcome of surgery postoperatively, on achieving a specific cup size. The use of computer imaging may be very helpful during this communication phase. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery. The use of temporary intraoperative sizers, viewing the patient's breasts in the upright and supine position, are very helpful during the breast implant selection process. I hope this, and the attached link (dedicated to breast augmentation surgery concerns), helps. Best wishes.

Answer: Memory Gel Mentor implants are good These are textured with an imprinting technique and can rotate. Other competitors are also available. Allergan's implants that are in their gummy bear line are the only ones I would shy away from as they are more firm, can form double capsules, and fracture more than Mentor or Sientra. Sientra is softer, stronger and has a unique texturing that makes it very stable and decreases any concerns of malrotation as well. In fact I have not seen either deflation or malrotation after 850 implants.

Answer: Not much difference between silicone gel implants. I don't think there's really a major advantage of one over the other in your particular situation. I would accept whatever recommendation the plastic surgeon you choose gives.

Answer: Memory Gel vs. Memory Shape Thank you for your question. There is no correct answer to your question, both will give you a nice result. There are advantages to each implant type and the pros and cons of each should be discussed with your plastic surgeon. When properly placed, the tear drop shaped implants should not rotate inside the breast but they are more expensive. They will give more stable upper pole fullness and for some patients this is a significant advantage. Good luck with your surgery!
