I'm a 37 year old female who suffered a stroke in July of 2015. The cause was due to an operator error: not a personal medical problem. Overall, I'm considering the mommy makeover, Brazilian butt lift, and Liposuction if necessary. I would like only 1 procedure done at a time: so as to maximize recovery time and minimize any unnecessary risk. Thank you.
Answer: Is it safe for a stroke survivor to undergo cosmetic surgery? I am sorry to hear about the stroke you experienced; this history in and of itself will not necessarily preclude you from undergoing cosmetic surgery. However, prior to proceeding it will be important that you ask the physicians who know you best to evaluate your "risk profile" and provide you with medical clearance. When the time is right, seek consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons who can demonstrate lots of experience SAFELY achieving the types of outcomes you would be pleased with.Best wishes.

Answer: Is it safe for a stroke survivor to undergo cosmetic surgery? If your stroke was not due to a medical condition like heart disease, a clotting disorder or other major medical condition then it is possible for you to have a safe mommy makeover. However, you will need a full medical work-up to rule out the most common causes of stroke. Speak with your regular doctor and your plastic surgeon to determine which tests are most appropriate.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Surgical candidate You may be a candidate for surgery, but should first discuss your wish to have surgery with your neurologist. Medical clearance will be needed. From there you and your plastic surgeon can proceed with your plan to help you achieve your goals while keeping risk low. Best wishes.

Answer: Mommy makeover Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Patient safety should always be the top priority. It would depend on the specific circumstances of your stroke. You would also need medical evaluation by your primary physician and a neurologist prior to surgery. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
