I am 1 week post op arm lipo (back of arms). Since about day 2 of recovery I’ve had a tight band feeling in the back of my arms. Its worse on my right side and causes a lot of pain when trying to stretch my arm resulting in not being able to reach behind my head, etc. My surgeon says this is normal and will go away with time. Is this due to swelling, scar tissue? What can I do to help it? I just want to get back to functioning normally. I cant even brush or wash my hair!
Answer: Tightness after arm lipo. What can I do to help it? Swelling after an armlift can last up to six months or even a year. Induration and hardness are components of the normal healing process. I usually provide compression garments to my patients which cover all of the areas liposuctioned. The patients who tend to have healing issues with liposuction procedures tend to be the ones who do not wear the compression garments at all, wear them very inconsistently, or do not wear them snugly covering all areas of liposuction. Post-operative protocol varies from PS to PS, so best to follow your PS 's guidance.

Answer: Post Lipo - Lymphatic Massage, Hyperbaric Oxygen, RF (Venus Legacy, Exilis, Vanquish, InMode Forma), Cellutone/Z Wave/Evive Tightness and banding is normal for now you need to start the treatments below. If you are unhappy with your results please speak to your physician and ensure he was a full body VASER HD liposuction physciain wtih expensive experience in body shaping and not just traditional fat reduction. At this point you should be using compression, RF treatments like venus legacy / exilis ultra / inmode forma or contoura and lymphatic massage to get you through healing. We always add shock wave therapy such as cellutone, z wave, and eclipse evive to help prvent scar tissue formation and ensure an even and smooth result. It will take 6-12 months to see the final outcome. If you are unhappy you can get a revision procedure by an expert in VASER HD lipo. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Tightness after arm lipo. What can I do to help it? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, inflammation and discomfort are normal.Try soft stretching exercises, two or three times a day, with your doctor's blessing. If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)

Answer: Tightness after arm lipo Sometimes there may be some tightness after arm lipo which can temporarily restrict some range of motion . This should take care of itself over time . You are very early postop and I think you will find this will gradually improve.

Answer: The tightness is due to swelling you need to push yourself harder to work on your range of motion. it is very unusual that you cannot reach behind your head!!! you need to work on that aggressively but at the same time, do it slowly and gradually. it is far too early for scar tissue. it is just from swelling and it will definitely improve with time. the best thing you can do, is to work on it gradually every few hours and the worse thing you can do, is not move it for days and that will just lead to greater stiffness.david berman md
