I'm having an extended tummy tuck done with lipo to the flanks and bra roll. The scheduler told me that they can only remove 1 liter of fat via lipo when combined with a tummy tuck. Is that going to be enough or will I have to go back a second time for more lipo?
Answer: Is 1 liter enough fat removed via liposuction for flanks and bra roll? (Photo) This really depends on your body shape and the ultimate goals you want to achieve with the liposuction of the flanks and bra roll. With one photo, I am unable to discern the amount of fat to be liposuctioned from the extended TT. One liter is not much for an average size person, but for a very thin person, it could be alot.I sometimes liposuction 3 liters or so with a TT. This makes a substantial difference in the contouring results. Whereas less than 1 liter may not be noticeable. A standard TT does not involve liposuction.Kenneth Hughes, MD, APBS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Is 1 liter enough fat removed via liposuction for flanks and bra roll? Thanks for your question. It is hard to advice you without doing an in person evaluation. We’ve found that we’re able to achieve dramatic improvements for our patients with 2 to 4 liters of liposuction, depending on their needs. Your surgeon is the best person to tell you if 1 liter is enough from the areas that will be treated.

Answer: Is 1 liter enough fat removed via liposuction for flanks and bra roll? Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. You would need a in-person consultation to determine how many cc's to transfer. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less. l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know. Good luck :)

Answer: You should not look for a certain amount removed. what counts is what is left behind there are a number of factors that determine your final result and the final "reading" of how much fat was removed plays little role. For starters, some surgeons will infiltrate a liter into the area and if they remove 500-1000ml that is quite a bit. For some reason that makes no sense to me, there are surgeons that will infiltrate in 6 liters (6,000 ml). Clearly this surgeon, will remove more fluid but a lot of what he is removing is just fluid he infiltrated. also i do a huge amount of Smartlipo and the laser will damage a lot of fat that may not necessarily come out at the time of surgery but will gradually be resorbed.i also tell my patients that it is a partnership. i will reduce fat in the treated areas but it is part of your total body fat. If you want the best results, you should try and do a diet such as low carb and higher fats and proteins (see my web site for ketogenic diets and ketogenic supplements) which will often reduce body fat. david berman md
