My dermafill treatment was very painful, particularly on the left side.

Question

Numbness, jaw and tooth pain occured 5 days later on the left side. 10 days later still not good. Pain has now moved to R H S.I cannot press my back teeth together. I have temple pain and neck ache. Taking 15ml codeine and 500ml Naproxen which does help. Blood test have been done no results yet. Could the badly inserted cannula have caused nerve damage.

This isn't typical with an injection with cannulas. I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation to rule out infection or nerve impairment. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

The symptoms you are experiencing are not typical after receiving fillers.  I encourage you to return to your doctor to discuss the pain and evaluate where it could be stemming from.  In addition to the pain be aware of other signs of infection such as fever or redness at the site of the pain.

Thank you for your question. This is not normal and advise you to have it evaluated. This can be either an infection or a nerve injury. It is not common for nerve injury to cause pain in multiple areas. Also, it is unlikely for cannulas to cause injury to nerves. I advise you to have this evaluated right away. Best of Luck!

Thanks for your question. This would definitely qualify as more pain than what is typical following a treatment such as this.  Given a cannula was used there is even lower risk of tissue and nerve damage, making this unusual.  I strongly recommend you discuss this with your injector and see about getting evaluated for the root cause of these problems.
