HELP..3 weeks since lift with small T and new implants (400cc mpp saline) under muscle, dual plane. (implants were 18 yrs old with slight CC). I am 39, overweight but healthy, don't smoke and no diabetes. Now, open wounds. PS's nurse saw me and put silver nitrate on yday. Today, oozing more then normal (no infection - on antibiotics in case). There are little holes too. I know they will heal somehow, just implant concerns. Using xeroform and non stick gauze. Dissolvable stitches need removing?
Answer: T junction wounds after breast augmentation and lift Thank you for your question and photos. Given the appearance of the wounds and their size, it is best to have your surgeon evaluate what is going on in person. You are correct in having concern about the implants. Being 3 weeks out is on your side as the implants will have a capsule form around them which will help to prevent them from getting infected, but having a significant amount of drainage is concerning. Make sure to seey our surgeon as soon as possible and he or she can determine if you need to hve the area cleaned up surgically or whether you need to let it heal on it's own. Good luck.

Answer: Building problems after breast augmentation Thank you for your pictures. Your wounds appear to still have some unhealthy tissue in the base. I would recommend that this tissue is removed so that healthy tissue can fill the space and lead to healing. It is unlikely that your implant will be exposed since it is beneath the muscle. This resulted healing of the wounds will leave you with the scar that will need to be revised in a much later date.Good luck.Girl Stephenson,Jr, MD,DDS,FACS

Answer: Continue Silvadene Dressing Changes Daily Thank you very much for including photographs with your questions. From the detailed photograph it appears that the wound is beginning to contract and heal together and I suspect that this will continue to heal over time. There is some eschar, white type tissue, in the base of the wound which could most likely be carefully debrided. I would continue to use Silvadene dressing changes on a daily basis and allow the wound to clean up and close on its own. I think that the implant is safe at this point since most of the internal healing has occurred around the implant to protect it. It is possible in the future you may wish to do some scar revision surgery. Your surgeon can best advise you how to proceed from this point forward.

Answer: T zone necrosis after breast lift and augmentation Do not follow the advice and treatment of a nurse but insist on seeing your plastic surgeon for a formal examination and treatment. You have necrotic or dead skin in the areas of your T-zone and for proper healing the necrotic or dead tissue needs to be debrided or scraped away so that pink red bleeding tissue is evident. New skin cells will not grow over yellow white necrotic material but will only heal over pink bleeding tissue. Is impossible to tell from your photographs whether you are at risk for losing your implants, only an examination can tell you this which is why it is important that you see your surgeon.Generally speaking when loss of an implant called extrusion occurs there is a very significant gush of clear white water looking fluid. The discharge on your dressings could simply be the result of the necrotic skin. Please see her plastic surgeon in person emergently.

Answer: Open Wounds After Breast Augmentation and Mastopexy Thank you for your question. You need to see the plastic surgeon as soon as possible. The tissue does appear to need debridement so it can heal properly from the inside out. Additionally, I would culture the fluid and start antibiotics as appropriate. Sometimes a MRSA infection can present with increased drainage and the cultures should tell us if MRSA is present. Good luck.
