Hello, I'm concerned about my side profile. I'm aware that my over-jet adds to the imbalance & I'm in the process of fixing it with braces. What else can I do to achieve facial balance? I was thinking of a rhinoplasty, chin filler, or chin implant. Thanks. Update: new photos added

Answer: Rhinoplasty, possibly chin augmentation Only on the basis of in person evaluation, a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty, can give you more meaningful answer. You seem to be excellent candidate for rhinoplasty; decision about chin augmentation should be made based on in person consultation. Good luck.

Answer: Profileplasty Hi there, and thanks for submitting your question to RealSelf! Your profile has many attractive features and while you have concerns, from a surgical standpoint, minor changes may be suitable to help you achieve your wishes. As you undergoing orthodontic therapy to help your bite, it would be best to hold on on any surgical changes until this is completed, as your surgeon will wish to plan something permanent against a moving target. I find that the upper lip position can and does change after orthodontic therapy is completed, and for this reason, I prefer to wait until patients are wearing a retainer to plan chin/nasal surgery. In the meantime, patients can "test drive" the appearance of a stronger chin/jawline with filler, which can also help to "balance" the profile. You may indeed benefit from this nonsurgical approach in the meantime. As well, a rhinoplasty surgery can also help to balance how your chin appears, but subtly changing the position of the nasal tip. A 2D simulation with your surgeon can show you how making the nasal tip slightly de-projected can change your profile. These are highly visual subtleties, and I find that computer simulation is an excellent starting point for discussions with my patients. I hope this helps you find an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon! Best of luck!
