This 59-year-old patient was diagnosed with breast cancer in the left breast and initially planned to undergo a left mastectomy with implant-based reconstruction, as she previously had cosmetic breast implants. After surgery, positive margins were identified, requiring additional treatment and ultimately leading to bilateral mastectomies.To achieve optimal reconstruction and symmetry, she proceeded with left latissimus dorsi (LD) flap reconstruction with implant placement, along with an implant exchange on the right side to match the reconstructed breast. This approach allowed her to restore breast shape while maintaining balanced, natural-looking results.

55-64 year old woman treated with Breast Reconstruction with Latissimus Flap

This patient has a BRCA gene mutation that significantly increases her risk of breast cancer.  She had bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy and Stage 1 breast reconstruction using tissue expanders and latissimus flaps.  Stage 2 surgery took place months later and included tissue expander removal, placement of permanent implants, and fat grafting.

This patient is 13 weeks out from latissimus dorsi flap by Dr. Leveque. Skin, fat, muscle, and blood vessels from upper back were used to reconstruct the breast after breast cancer.

This breast cancer patient underwent a bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomy and immediate first stage breast reconstruction with sub pectoral tissue expanders and muscle-sparing latissimus flaps. She then completes second stage reconstruction with placement of moderate profile 375 mL implants.

Patient: 37 year old with history of left breast cancer treated with lumpectomy and radiation. This patient had previously had a right lumpectomy with radiation. Subsequently, she developed asymmetry of the breasts due to the effects of radiation therapy. She desired restoration of symmetry using her own tissue (autologous reconstruction) with the use of the right latissimus dorsi flap to increase the volume of the right breast followed by a left breast lift and reduction to gain the remainder of symmetry.

This patient underwent a left pedicled latissimus flap to correct a severe inferior pole defect from her previous lumpectomy and radiation treatment.She will require one more stage for symmetry and to correct her areolar scar widening.

Patient presented with a diagnosis of a large right breast tumor. Underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and then elected to proceed with bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Because of the tumor size and location, she was not a candidate for nipple-sparing mastectomy. Due to the large tumor size, the patient was going to need post-operative radiation treatment to the right breast. She underwent bilateral mastectomy with tissue expander reconstruction along with a right-sided latissimus dorsi flap. She then completed radiation treatment. Several months after completion of radiation, she underwent second stage reconstruction with removal of tissue expanders, placement of cohesive round silicone implants, and fat grafting for contour.

This 59 year old woman had Breast Reconstruction with Latissimus Flap. She also had tattooing of her nipples to add more color. She is 8 months recovered&nbsp;

This 61 year old woman underwent immediate Breast Reconstruction with Latissimus Flap at the same time as bilateral mastectomies. She had a history of radiation therapy. She also underwent breast implant placement and application of her own nipples as full thickness skin grafts. Doing multiple breast reconstructive procedures at the same time decreases the number of surgeries necessary.
