Sagging skin on upper arms, will CoolSculpting help?

"After loosing almost 100 lbs my upper arms have sagging skin . is this procedure done in office and are both arms done at same time. What would be average cost , I live in Ohio near Columbus. thank you"

The cost varies from patient to patient depending on the applicators used, size of the area and amount of sessions needed to achieve maximum results. Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, CoolSculping won’t help much with excess skin and might make the problem even worse because CoolSculping will only remove the fat. I would recommend looking into an arm lift. An arm lift will help rid you of the excess skin and fat on your arms. Costs are typically between $5,000 and $6000.

Thank you for this question. CoolSculpting will target the fat in the treated areas but will not do anything to tighten the skin. If there is loose skin before the procedure it can become even looser after CoolSculpting. The answer for loose skin is often to remove it surgically. For example, loose skin on the abdomen often needs a tummy tuck. Loose skin on the arms often requires an arm lift. That is a great question. CoolSculpting is only indicated for fat reducing by freezing the fat. It does not treat loose skin, stretch marks, or loose abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis). After significant weight loss, many individuals will have excess skin that has been stretched out. Depending on the degree of skin laxity, you may be a candidate for a skin tightening treatment (e.g. ThermiTight) or you may need surgical correction if it is significant.Hope this helps!

Hi jstaker.  With large weight loss, you likely have thin sagging skin in the upper arms without much subcutaneous fat.  As such, CS would not be indicated. If you still have fat, then yes, you can reduce the fat with CS.  The advantage applicators only take 30 minutes, and if your certified CS provider has more than one machine, both arms can be done at the same time.  Costs usually are around $1500 for both arms-depending upon the amount of fat, if you require another session, the price will be slightly more.  Providers can be located on the Find a doctor feature on the main CS website.  Best wishes,

CoolSculpting is a treatment designed to reduce fat in localized areas.  The arms can be treated for fat but the procedure will not tighten the skin.  

Bello Jstaker;  That is quite an accomplishment! You must be thrilled.When you have lost a truly significant amount of weight, the skin is often quite loose on the arms and to achieve reasonable resettle a surgical approach via brachiosaurus may be necessary. I don’t think any of the devices that apply energy to the surface of the skin of the arms (in order of efficacy, in my experience anyway, Thermage, Pellevé, Ultherapy, Thetmi250) would be effective. ThermiTight, which delivers RF energy under the skin, is more effective, has some downtime,  but Is less dramatically effective than surgery for someone with very loose skin.  An in-person evaluation with someone with multiple devices should be able to determine which treatment is most appropriate for you and your situation.Sheryl Clark MD FAAD

CoolSculpting is intended to reduce unwanted fat, not skin. If you're bothered by unwanted skin on your upper arms, you may be a better candidate for a nonsurgical skin tightening procedure or even an arm lift. If you have areas of unwanted fat that you'd like to reduce with CoolSculpting, the procedure is performed in-office on an outpatient basis. Some doctors have 2 machines to allow then to treat 2 areas at once. Each provider is different. You have many options for improving the look of your upper arms, but CoolSculpting may not be one of them
