Is the flank area considered one area or two?

Coolsculpting is an excellent form of non-invasive  fat reduction for the right patient. Some applicators take 1 or 2 hours but the new advantage applicators take only 35 minutes and have significantly less risk for delayed onset pain (especially in the abdomen). Results are seen at 2 months and typically 1-3 treatments will be necessary on each area to achieve ideal results. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat there and the patient's goals. The flank is considered as two areas. Each area is about the size of your hand. There is not downtime and the results can be impressive in the right patient.  We also use the Zimmer Z-wave for improved patient comfort and added results. The best candidates are those who are in pretty good shape with areas of stubborn fat that won't go away no matter what.

This can vary due to practice protocols and individual anatomy. Flanks are 2 areas, its depends on the number of applicators not the area. For best results with Coolsculpting, I recommend a combination approach. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. VASER with ThermiRF is the best alternative, especially for the abdomen, and this can be combined with a Tummy tuck at the same time. Hello,Thank you for your question. The flanks may be treated in one session however they will be treated with two cycles. Each area that will need an attatchment is considered a cycle (I.e left flank and right flank) Good luck! 

In our certified practice we count how many applicators for each area you will need. For example, sometimes a flank may need 1 or 2 applicators on each side. It's important to have the right amount of applicators to get the best results. Best of Luck!

Good question! When it comes to CoolSculpting, each flank is treated as its own area, so treating both flanks requires 2 treatments. This is because 2 applicators must be used. Some practices can treat both flanks at once (a practice called DualSculpting), but other offices with just 1 CoolSculpting machine must treat 1 flank at a time. In either case, the treatment of both flanks is considered 2 separate areas. 

CollSculpting "areas" refers to the number of times an applicator must be applied.  In other words, the flanks implies 2 areas at least because most people are fairly symmetrical and need both side treated.  A stomach might be one area or could be as many as 4 areas depending on the size and shape of the abdomen as well as the desired result.  It is crucial to get a realistic plan from your provider with the exact # of treatments areas (applications of the CoolSculpting treatment handpiece) to figure out your costs.  Talk with your provider, tell them your budget and see what the correct plan for you may be.

Each side of your flanks is considered one area. Some practices will offer bundle or package pricing to give you the best price for the area you are interested in treating. Also, if a practice has two machines then they can treat both sides at the same time; cutting down your treatment time in half. Hello Lkennya24,Thank you for your question and yes the terms used can be confusing. Generally speaking when we refer to an "area" it is more about the anatomic location to be treated (abdomen, flanks,inner thigh, outer thigh etc.). Within an anatomic area depending on the amount of fat your overall size etc. more than one cycle could be needed. We define a "cycle" as every time one of the applicators is placed in an area to be treated. In your case you are interested in the anatomic area known as the "flanks" of which there is the left side and right side hence two cycles. There are times when two cycles will be needed on each side=4 cycles. Pricing is typically done by the number of "cycles" needed to treat your "areas" of concern. This can only be done with an in person evaluation. Best to have done by a center that is "certified by CoolSculpting University" as a center of excellence. 

Each flank is considered an area for CoolSculpting treatment, so treating both flanks is billed as two cycles. Each time a module is attached to a new body location, that's a treatment area.
