Question

Two week post op. I have undergone surgery twice with the same doctor. These wounds were from attaching my previous tummy tuck to my current pubic lift with. My wound was oozing and he told me it was normal and it will scar beautifully and thin. My previous tummy tuck was unsatisfactory and left me with a wave like tummy and a “muffin top”. The pubic lift has lumps which he told me was swelling.

Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended.

Thank you for your question and photographs.  It is quite common to have redness at the incision line 2 1/2 weeks following surgery.  My advice is to follow the specific instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon regarding incision care.  Best of luck.

Scars after this procedure, and so soon after surgery are common, you have forces in two opposing directions. I would trust your surgeon and carefully follow his advice.
