Good candidate for chin implant? (Photo)

Hi, hoping to get feedback about if I would be a good candidate for a chin augmentation? I feel that my chin is very recessed and blends in with my neck. I’ve done chin filler before and felt that the results weren’t noticeable.

Hello and thank you for your question. A formal evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are both surgical and non-surgical options to correct this.

We can place a chin implant, which is a quick surgical procedure. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, however, so for those patients, we also offer non-surgical chin augmentation with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill, and Sculptra are injected into the area to improve the overall appearance of the lower face and balance the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline, and improve the chin crease.

Implants are a great option once you are ready for permanent chin enhancement.​ I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert, or an aesthetic facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Donald Groves; we are both located right here in Los Angeles.

Based on the photos, you seem to be a suitable candidate for a chin implant. However, I typically prefer to make decisions after a one-on-one physical examination with my patients. Chin augmentation can be a good option for those seeking noticeable improvement in the chin area. With a chin implant, we can create a more contoured appearance, and the choice of implant needs to result in a feminine appearance. If you've tried fillers before and didn't achieve the desired results, surgical chin augmentation may be more effective for you.

In the single photo, it appears that you are a candidate for chin augmentation. Permanent treatment options include a chin implant or sliding genioplasty. Both procedures have advantages and disadvantages. In general, with larger advancements, I believe that a sliding genioplasty gets a better result. In some cases, I recommend simultaneous jawline and submental liposuction.

You are an ideal and fantastic candidate for chin augmentation. The end of your chin should be somewhere closer to where the red of your bottom lip ends, so there is a good distance that you can handle. Make sure that you go to a good surgeon who can provide you proper counseling, and if I were your surgeon, I would make sure you are prepared to know that you will be needing a pretty large implant.

Yes, based on this one photo you look like a great candidate for a chin implant. I do those in the office with local anesthesia and they take about 20 minutes.  Afterwards, you can eat whatever you want and recovery is fairly quick. Watch our videos to learn more.

Based on the photo shown, I would consider performing a chin implant.  Obviously a physical examination and review of medical history are necessary before saying absolutely "Yes".  An in person consultation works best.

You are a good candidate for a chin implant, which can be done under local anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure which takes about 30 minutes. If your teeth are significantly out of alignment, then you can consider performing a sliding genioplasty by a oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay in the hospital
