Chin implant removal / my chin looks huge and uneven (Photo)

Hello, hope you are well. Unfortunately, it seems that the end of your post was cut off (mid way through question 3). You did not mention when the implant was removed, but my guess from looking at the photos is relatively recently. As I tell all my patients, we measure healing after facial contouring in months, not days. (It takes much longer to see results after reduction compared to augmentation). The soft tissue becomes very swollen and needs to re-adhere to the underlying bone. Until that process resolves, it is common to see things like asymmetry. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with undergoing liposuction at the time of implant placement or removal. Hope this helps.

In some instances, removal of the implant is more difficult and can be associated with more bleeding then when it is inserted. It does not affect the final shape of the chin but it produces a scary early appearance.

Having three liposuction at the time of the implant removal inevitably adds to the swelling because it affects the lymphatic circulation in the area and contributes some more inflammation. Again, it does not tend to produce a long-term negative impact for the shape of the chin.

Wearing a chin garment will help reduce the swelling that it still takes close to 2 months for you to feel that the shape has improved significantly. Cold applications can also help to this effect. Manual lymphatic drainage has also been shown to provide benefits for reduction in swelling

Each surgeon develops their own protocol for the after-care and I suggest having a conversation with your surgeon to understand better what they have found useful as post-operative treatments to help decrease the swelling.

There are a number of variables why your face may look slightly different after removing a chin implant that has been in place for a year.
Simply one years worth of aging can change the face and tissues will have been distorted from the implant to some degree. Scar tissue is formed, and there may have been slight bone erosion.
I don’t think any of this has to do with how the implant was removed.
Results are typically pretty close to final by about three months, but there may be subtle swelling that can take longer
I see no indication to consider revision surgery, so at this point, I suggest, accepting the decision to have the implant placed, and the implant removed and move forward.
