All patients in our practice go home in their own clothing after a tummy tuck. They are loose fitting and comfortable however. What I think you are asking is "When can I wear newer, smaller sizes?" We have our patients dress in loose clothes for 2-3 weeks after the surgery. This is because the are wearing compression garments usually with pads. At 2-3 weeks we have them switch to panty girdles or spanx. At about 3-4 weeks most swelling has subsided and compression garments and pads are gone. This is when the "new you" is starting to show!! Good luck.
You should be wearing a compression garment for about 6 weeks which will add bulk. For the first 2 weeks you want to wear comfortable loose clothing, after that you should be able to get into your regular clothes, however everyone heals differently and swelling can take several weeks to subside. Good luck.
Most of my patients start slimming back down after about 3-4 weeks...they look different before that but the old clothes seem tight still...That is pretty normal...
The first 2 weeks after a tummy tuck is so very important to getting a good result. You basically need to be at home in a stress free environment and allow your body to recover properly so that you can get back to your everyday life as soon as possible. Patients who typically try to "rush" their recovery end up just prolonging it because the body heals at a certain pace. I would recommend that you plan to wear comfortable and loose clothing for 2-3 weeks after a tummy tuck. But watch out! When you put on your attractive clothes at the end of this period, you are going to look great and fit your clothes great!
Most patients can wear their clothing after about 3 to 4 weeks. Swelling takes several months to completely go away. Keep in mind every patient is different.
You will be swollen for a couple of weeks, sometimes longer- dont expect to get back in your regular clothing for the first 2 weeks. Good luck!
The goal is to be in smaller clothes! After surgery, you will be in sweats for a couple of weeks as a matter of postop healing. Everyone heals differently and swelling goes down variably so there is no hard and fast rule.
Of course, everyone goes home in their own clothes after a tummy tuck, though looser sweats and tops that button or zip are the rule. You might be able to wear things that are more attractive within a week if it fits over the binder, and after two weeks when you can get into a shaper such as a Spanx. Even jeans may slide on.
Usually after tummy tuck you are able to get back into normal clothes at 3 weeks. You will still be swollen it takes 6-9 months for it to completely subside. Use a compression garment to help with the swelling.
At approximately 6 weeks after surgery, you should be healed enough to know how much of a result you will have. 3 liters of removal varies from person to person, depending on your pre-operative size and where the fat is removed from. After surgery, you will have some swelling making...

There are not any scientific studies that document the return of sensation and resolution of swelling after tummy tuck surgery. The short answer is that we do not know . I can tell you that from my experience if my patients are in excellent health before surgery and they undergo Manual Lymphatic...
Hi there- Because the concept of a reverse tummy tuck requires that the skin be pulled upward towards an incision under the breasts, the scars and transposed tissues are constantly fighting gravity, and are located in an area where scars under tension are often prone to thickening. I...
I use exparel for nerve blocks in all of my abdominoplasty procedures.Instead of just injecting the exparel into the skin or muscle, I actually perform a *true* nerve block of the intercostal nerves that supply the abdominal wall with sensation. My patients have been thrilled, and you can see...
There is really no way to know what anatomic feature is creating your objectionable contour without more information. Your pre-surgical profile, knowledge of techniques incorporated in your abdominoplasty, and physical examination are important. If still uncertain, I would look at CT...
